Duke Football 2014-15 Discussion

Fine season. Only bad at the end because they didn't lose more and eliminate any great possibilities earlier. QB play was not adequate given who the coach is and the quality of the players around him, but there was nothing to do about that. Beat Wake, beat a mediocre team in a mediocre bowl, hang onto all recruits and keep getting more talent. Ideally find a QB in the offseason but if not, 6-7 wins next season should be enough to keep the talent improvement going. Players who should be on 3-8 or 4-7 teams still exist on the roster.

Cutcliffe is going to be loyal to Montgomery, unless Roper expresses interest to come back. There is a chance Montgomery is simply an awful OC and we are stuck being awful on offense until we have overwhelming Alabama-caliber talent. That will never happen, so hopefully Montgomery improves with experience.

I'm hoping that (a) Scottie is a quick study or (b) he's a better playcaller when he has a FBS caliber TE to work with.

Also, goduke.com going with women's golf on the front page this morning. Strong, to quite strong.

Now that Duke is going to lose to Wake Forest, every team in the ACC that lost to Duke will point to that loss as the low point in their season.

UNC celebration damages Duke locker room
According to sources at both schools, light blue spray paint caused “significant” damage to the visiting team locker room in Duke’s Brooks Practice Facility as well as the adjacent Field Turf practice field. Both are adjacent to Wallace Wade Stadium, which also had some areas spray painted following UNC's 45-20 win on Thursday night.

Interior and exterior walls in the locker room as well as the carpet were painted. The letters "UNC" were also painted on a wall next to a door entering the facility and elsewhere in the locker room.

As is tradition, UNC’s players began spray painting the Victory Bell in their school’s color on the field as soon as the game ended. The celebration continued as the bell was wheeled across the practice field and into the locker room, causing the damage with paint.

That'll just make winning it on their turf next season all the more enjoyable.

Fuck them. $10,000+ in damages, no one disciplined. Carolina Way, cheat, lie, vandalize

Love that Buster Olney is trolling Peter Gammons

This duke football team is a 19.5 point favorite. What?

After witnessing the State/UNC game today, Duke's last 2 losses are embarrassing beyond belief.

I just came across that and wondered if there was any legitimacy to the report. When Cutcliffe turned down Tennessee, I felt pretty confident he'll be here until he retires.
