Duke Recruiting General Discussion

Cole Anthony is excellent at basketball. He's been playing up a year in age group in AAU for at least the last 2 seasons. I think he played with Bamba.

Cole Anthony's HS and EYBL statistical profile suggests he'd easily be our best NBA PG prospect since Kyrie. A true 2-way guard with elite athleticism, shooting and ball-handling. Great FT rate, good FT shooter, high assist rate and good 3pt shooter.

He's absolutely OAD or HS to the NBA good - so depending on what the NBA does moving forward this may be a waste of time and resources. He's definitely one of my favorite prospects in recent years.

Isaiah Stewart, that's the #2. I think since Duke knows they have Bacot on the hook, they can slow play him.

BTW, Bacot is a waste of time from what I understand. A smaller, softer, less polished Okafor. Several good friend's kids have played him repeatedly in league, and pretty much neutralized him. He can't guard at all, rim or in space, and has no offense outside 5 ft. Takes up space and gets a bunch of boards/putbacks, but in a HS league where 6'6" whitey centers are the norm. If he transforms 40 lbs of fat into muscle and gets some range, he might become a poor man's Swanigan.

He is a good kid, and apparently pretty smart, but the likelihood he thrives under K is de minimis. Will watch him in some games this winter to get a better feel.

Oddly enough, apparently Cole Anthony grew up a Duke AND UNC fan...

McCleary said Anthony was especially pleased to see Duke's Jeff Capel and Kansas' Norm Roberts in the gym.

"He was happy when Duke was here last week but he was also happy that Kansas was here," he said.

"It's pretty much every kid's dream who picks up a basketball," Anthony said. "Those are two of the best colleges in the country. They got some of the best alunni, it's just an honor."

Asked if he grew up a Duke fan, Anthony said, "Duke and North Carolina but I'm open to everybody."
