Duke-Syracuse prediction thread

Surprised 25/30 people picked win. All of the circumstances are pointing to a loss.

I think we've looked like shit lately and are due for a good game. Naysayers.

Duke is 5-9 vs the spread in ACC play. During the 7 game win streak, they are 3-4. One of the wins was UNC at home, and the two other wins were @UVa and @Notre Dame. During the streak, Duke is 1-3 at home against the spread, and 2-1 on the road. The one road loss against the spread was Wake, which seems to be a team that is engineered to give a coach reluctant to play large people a problem. Wake is also responsible for one of the home losses against the spread.

This feels like a "degree of difficulty" game that Duke players might be motivated for.

Just looked at Syracuse's schedule and they've been lights out at home in conference play. Only loss against Louisville in OT. Still, this just has the feel of a game that we need to win if we want to consider ourselves legit contenders. We tend to play well at the Dome, and this seems like a good matchup for us stylistically. We should have this one.

We shouldn't have lost but that perimeter foul trouble made us that much worse defensively in the second half and they hit two bank shots

Nope. Defense wasn't worse. Syracuse was averaging 1.82 ppp after the first 8 minutes of the half. Ended 1.75.

Well part of the 1.82 was they were going to the FT line on every possession and making 2.

At one point, Syracuse went to the line for 2 shots during 8 of 13 consecutive possessions. They made field goals on 3 of the others. That's a good way to jack up your offensive efficiency.

Losing that game wrecked the conference for us. Could have been sitting is sole possession of 2nd place, now in a 4-way tie - though technically we're in 4th, I guess, with the tie-breakers going to L'ville and FSU.
