The most un-libertarian belief I have is that the sugary drinks tax is a great thing. I'm more in favor of this than I am for gun control.

I am 100% in favor of legislation to save us from our own stupidity, greed, and shortsightedness. It's just a question of who's making that legislation, of course. The libertarian mistake is believing freedom is intrinsically good or exists in a vacuum. Most freedoms actually infringe upon someone else.

In Paris, the tax is even more overt. Everyone has reusable bags (I did not) and you get charged between 5 and 10 cents a bag.

What I meant by noticeable was noticeable on your wallet. You can fit $50 of groceries into two bags, so you wouldn't think having to spend 10 extra cents on such a big purchase would matter.

My observation, in Chicago anyway, is that people hate the government so much that they don't want to give them anything extra. It seems to be more about that than the five to 30 cents.

Went to Alley Twenty-Six tonight for a work get together and finally had the food. Lamb sliders were incredible. Also liked the fried mushroom-ricotta balls. Those balls were really creamy. Drank many cocktails and had a beer.
