Player Jabari Parker

Ok, so I basically want Bill Simmons to tell me how to feel about everything, but I'm not sure how one can compare the Embiid video to Parker's workout vid and conclude that Embiid is clearly the better player now and in the future. Will Embiid be a very good pro? Yeah, probably, but to completely throw out any of Embiid's injury history/risk of future injury based on his movements in a one hour workout where the most physical contact he was exposed to was a hi five is completely asinine.

Dson has basically summed up my thoughts perfectly. Embiid had injury issue in high school, he had injury issues playing 20 mpg for 3/4 of a college season. Now because he did exactly what you expected him to do in a workout all of those concerns mean nothing? Good luck relying on him adding weight and staying healthy over the course of 82 games plus playoffs.

I don't really know why I care so much as Parker's time a Duke meant nothing to me. But if one-and-dones/two-and-dones are going to be an important part of college basketball, I'd prefer our guys get maximum exposure.

I agree with this comparison as well. Shane Battier = Jabari Parker = Anthony Bennett

That comparison is so lazy and uninspired but I have to respect a man who is willing to put himself out there like that.

OK. Watching that video makes me mad.

Was he in on Jiggy's corndog diet during the season? He looks about 10 times more mobile and much slimmer.

Sometimes I have my doubts about our S&C program...

I briefly met the S&C coach last summer. Big buff dude that used to work with the football team IIRC. I wanted to tell him he's terrible at his job but didn't feel right. Our in season S&C has to be among the worst of the elite programs.

I don't know how to compare in-season stuff specifically -- i don't watch other teams nearly as closely -- but I think our S&C is fine. The work done with our bigs has been really good, but also the transformations guys like Seth and Nolan made stamina-wise and strength-wise were great to see. I'm sure our guys don't do nearly as much during the season, and I also bet that with the shallow post depth we had, no one was really interested in Jabari losing much weight.

Yeah, when I look at Mason, Kelly, Miles, Zoubek, etc., etc., etc., it's hard to argue that our S&C sucks.

That said, there are some schools I think are ahead of us. Syracuse's players always seemed to ripped.

Both Ford and Givony having him going #2 to the Bucks right now.

Ugh.

Duke alums taking over that Midwest division though. Jabari, Kyrie, Kyle, Dunleavy, Boozer. Had a few guys on the Pacers too a bit ago. An entire division stacked with Duke alums with no chance of beating the Heat anytime soon.

I can't think of a worse place for him to go. At least the Cavs have Kyrie so I can watch them lose together. Philly might actually be a solid team after adding Wiggins.

There is no hope for the Bucks.

Brandon Knight
Mayo
Parker
Ilyasova
Sanders

Some intriguing pieces on the bench. I don't think Milwuakee is anywhere near as bad as their results this season would indicate.

I just feel like they are even more haphazardly managed than Cleveland. The kind of players they always trade for seems to indicate they have no idea what actually makes a good player.

Tend to agree, in general on Hammond (who may be on thin ice anyway, and not there long). He did a nice job with the tanking this season, and admittedly has drafted a couple of solid pieces in Antetokoumpo and Henson. But, like you said, it's like he has no winnerometer. Bringing in guys like Monta Ellis? Mayo?

That said, he inherited a total clusterfuck of a team when he started in 2008, a team that was on the hook to pay Michael Redd, Bobby Simmons, and Mo Williams a combined 36 million dollars in 2009-10. He's done a nice job of avoiding that kind of mess. Sanders will start making 11 million a year this season, which could be a big problem if he plays like he did last year (between injuries) rather than 2012-13, but everyone else is making reasonable money.

"So the decision was really tough. Selfishly, I wanted to stay, to help out. Like, Duke really needs me. That was the selfish mindset that I had. But in a way -- this may sound weird-- i wanted to do justice to Jahlil Okafor. He needs to go through the same thing I went through to be the player that he wants to be. With my help, he would still be good. But I think he'll be great without me." - Jabari on his decision to leave in ESPN the Mag.

This fucker takes a title away from K so Okafor can go for 17-11 instead of 14-8.

He says weird things. Just be truthful and say, "Someone is going to pay me fucking millions to play basketball starting very soon."

If Sanders can keep his shit together, that would be helpful.

I liked JP's reaction to being drafted by the Bucks, he seemed enthusiastic. Nice to see a star (seemingly) happy to play in a smaller market.

Well, he clearly preferred the Bucks to Cleveland. Maybe Kyrie has been in his ear saying negative things about Cleveland, or maybe he is just happy to be so close to home. (Less than a two hour drive between Chicago and Milwaukee.)
