The energy capital of the world is underwater. Devastating. Twitter is unbelievable right now. My heart is hurting.
The president is tweeting about how this is the biggest storm ever like he's a fan, that Mexicans are criminals and that David Clarke has a great new book out that he undoubtedly didn't read.

CNN just now had me in tears. An elderly couple and their dogs just got saved from waist-deep water.

This is heartbreaking beyond belief. Not sure I can watch much more.

I feel like this is going to be the new norm in coastal America. The storms are more intense, blow up faster, and dump more rain. The summer has been surreal with the rain here on the OBX.

And we have a potential tropical storm heading in tomorrow/Tuesday. Oh, well, those two days without rain were nice.

We have had three "100 year events" in the last 15 months in Houston.

Not to downplay what's going on in Houston, but we had 2 inches of rain drop in 37 minutes during one storm in early August. I had to deliver a stand up paddleboard that morning, so I paddled it down the beach road and up most of the drive way to the house it was being delivered to, then waded back. That kind of flooding, just from rainfall, never used to happen. Since Matthew hit last October, it's happened a half dozen times.

Same at IOP last Thursday. Couple hours of rain and the roads become impassable. That did not used to happen. I told Kate that when her parents give us their condo that we need to sell it. The increases in flood insurance and the risk of losing the place (it's on the beach) are not worth it.

I literally just got done telling my youngest that as soon as he finishes up college he needs to move the hell away from the coast.

NCCU, Cam & any other Texans here - I hope your friends & family are doing alright.

I'm safe in central Texas. We may get some minor flooding from run off into backed up rivers but I don't think anything major. Tornadoes are still a worry perhaps.

My family lives about 20 miles from Rockport Texas that took the brunt of the landfall on Saturday morning. They bunkered in and rode it out against my advice. That whole Texan hard headedness is 100% true. Power will be out for days if not weeks and coastal flooding and rising rivers will keep them from leaving anytime soon. Thank goodness for cell phone service and car batteries!

I have many friends in Houston but they seem to all be fine. Good luck to NCCUknow.

Thanks for the thought Toronto!!

Tornado touched down on the other end of my street before dying out.

Rain is worse than last night. Jesus.

What area are you?

Just outside the loop, North of I-10. Better situation than most. Although next door neighbor just had a tree go through his roof, so slightly worried about wind/trees now.
Katy area I assume? Yeah trees are the worst when wind is involved. Luckily for me that's all I had to really worry about. I have some 80+ foot pecan trees and they're prone to limb snapping. Good luck man.
