If he wins, there is zero chance they expel him.

Why? McConnell hates him long before the allegations came out. Moore has always ran as a loose cannon, anti-establishment figure that wouldn't go along with the GopE agenda. That's why they had put so much money into his primary opponent's campaign.

Because he's a coward. He didn't back Moore initially and now he says it's up to the voters. If they don't seat him after he said it's up to the voters, he's going down.

GOP fires back with a politically harmless resignation of their own. Trent Franks. His seat will almost certainly be filled by another Republican.

This is going to be a real war between the parties to see who can take the moral high ground the most with resignations that have no direct consequences. By the end of this, Roy Moore will just be another guy who is in the Senate for six years.

America continues to be the best country.

They even say it out loud.

I agree with DSon, in that is McConnell's plan. Multi-planar hardball: Ethics, only when it suits them in acquiring power. New ways to Starve the Beast with the TaxFraud Plan, while moving gobs of capital from the middle and working class to the donor class...then later blaming the poor, sick, and old... Fiscally irresponsible deficit generating (as much or worse than Bernie's plan) and just being a Dick. Not Conservatism.

The social justice warrior left is really shooting themselves in the foot with their moral purity ultimatums.
Getting rid of a good senator so you can claim moral superiority over people that don't care about moral superiority seems self defeating.

That's what Dems don't understanding. They are fighting a group with no qualms about labeling themselves as the "family values" party with no qualms in brazenly demonstrating no actionable ethics in real time.

I take issue with "social justice warrior" in this instance, although the label usually fits. Pedophilia and sexual harassment are crimes, not social justice infraction like equal pay for equal work. In my business no one gets equal pay for equal work...it's what can can negotiate...

That's not true for the party as a whole. And for the percentage that it is true for Democrats, it's also true for Republicans. There is literally nothing of substance in that tweet.

We are two nations incoveniently mixed among each other. The less we’re willing to compromise, the more divided we become and eventually America will decline too far to recover.

But we always have been. We rallied around two World Wars, but most of our country's history has been a lot of bickering and in-fighting. The differences now seem to be:

Yes, both sides are doing all that they can to push further apart and any willingness to attempt reasonable compromise is viewed as party disloyalty.

The media has now chosen sides and are actively promoting one party over the other. For us folks in the middle who aren't in full pompom waving mode, it makes it difficult to accept any news reports at face value any more and it makes it easier for everyone to dismiss any stories that don't correspond with what we want to believe is true.

Most importantly, lobbyists and special interest groups have full control over nearly everyone in office and I think it is nearly impossible to fix that without tearing the whole thing down. The politicians certainly aren't going to fix it, so how does it get fixed?
