It might be for the best, as horrible as it sounds. Hopefully this will lead to a complete overhaul of U.S. soccer on the men's side.

The only thing that really sucks is we have the best player in U.S history and he won't get to shine in the WC.

It is for the best. There should be some major overhaul of American soccer from the bottom up. Rich suburban kids as the only ones who can play the game in this country puts a definite ceiling on how good the best 11 players in this country will ever be. It’s preposterous that we make anyone who wants to play competitive soccer have parents who can pay a shitload of money. Iceland government created nationwide after-school programs for kids to get into arts and sports, so they’re not wasting lives doing stupid shit. That’s all our poor kids are doing - stupid shit, instead of being good at anything. Granted, we don’t have the funding to support an entire giant country, but at least try to widen the talent pool to something beyond the wealthiest areas.
