Worthy of his own thread.

Lots of positive comments about his work ethic and motor on both ends of the floor.

Sorry for the repeat, but here is his latest mix:

Of course the Canadian would be nice enough to start a thread for a 4 star schmuck

On TDD, I would be crucified since the recruits read the boards. But I'm sure that's taken with a grain of salt with at this board since half our posts about their penises.

Javin says he's 6'9" and still growing, probably in the penis region too, where he also probably has a high motor. Definitely worthy of his own thread.

If he grows two more inches or something, he becomes a top 15 recruit (and a porn star).

There is a lot to like in his high school numbers.
http://www.maxpreps.com/athlete/javin-m ... -stats.htm

1. He blocks shots. 4.2 blocks per game as a junior. As we know, you don't learn how to block shots at Duke or pretty much anywhere else. He'll arrive ready.

2. All the core production stats are there. 20.0 ppg, 13.2 rpg, 5.0 apg, 2.8 spg, in addition to the shot blocking. I'm guessing the competition in Charlottesville isn't top notch, but this production is fine even against terrible competition. His team only went 15-6, which seems to indicate that the competition wasn't that bad.

3. He's improving rapidly. All of his numbers got significantly better as a junior relative to his sophomore year, especially his shooting percentages.

4. He's developing 3pt range. His 3pt attempt rate went from 12.6% as a sophomore, which was already respectable for a big, to 15.2% as a junior. Despite the increase in volume, his 3pt accuracy exploded from 33% to 46%. An Amile/Lance who shoots 46% on open 3s would be very useful.

5. He draws fouls well enough, and his FT shooting is getting there. 66% FT attempt rate and 64% FT shooting as a junior. 64% accuracy is not good, but he was at 53% as a sophomore.

His senior season will be telling. If he keeps improving at this meteoric rate, especially in shot blocking and shooting, maybe he was the late blooming star we should've wanted all along, instead of Wenyen Gabriel. His improvement jives with what everyone says about his motor and work ethic.

His best game last season: 26 points, 22 rebounds, 10 assists, 7 blocks, 2 steals, 6 turnovers.

He took 7 shots to get those 26 points. Made 6. Hit 14-16 from the line.

It's sad to me that the only thing that dampens my expectations for this guy is Josh Hairston. I got excited when I saw his numbers and then that name ran through my mind and I was so sad.

What is DeLaurier's worst case Duke comparison if he stays four years and we delete Josh Hairston from history? Pretty good, right?

The Hairston comparison is typical lazy tdd bullshit because they play the same spot and are ranked similar. That's about it.

I can't recall Hairston ever hitting a three for us, to be honest.

He's not really comparable to Amile or Lance, either, which are the more positive comparisons. The defensive versatility (he's supposed to be able to guard 2-5) and general frame are about the only similarities.

Did Lance ever complete a dunk off a lob in his life? I know Hairston, shockingly enough, had a couple.

The other issues with looking at rankings across classes is the class composition is completely different. I'm too lazy to see what the top 100 of Hairston's time looked like vs the top 100 of Javin's.

Having a big that's not below the rim/lacking general explosiveness AND seems to have some outside shooting ability is pretty big difference vs. all the other comparisons. We've tended to always have one or the other but not both. I guess Jabari was supposed to fit this mold, but his jump shots were generally awful because of the degree of difficulty he added to them. Justise pretty much fit this role for us last year because his penis size and haircut made up for his lack of height.

Don't forget black. They're both black.

FWIW, he played at STAB in Charlottesville, which would play a private school schedule. I played in the same public school district as Charlottesville in the 80's, and they sent sent several kids to mid major D1 programs and one kid had a cup of coffee in the NBA.

Now STAB is playing prep league schools like Benedictine, VES, etc. and these private schools are starting to recruit high major prospects and they are better programs than the public high schools are and used to be. So, Delorean would be playing a reasonable private school schedule.

I heard he can do 88 push ups and averaged 1.21 assists per game

I heard if DeLorean does 88 pushups in an hour, he travels back to 1955.

For example, Duke's top football recruit Scott Bracey plays in the same conference as Delorean

OOOH! I know this one. Who was this said about in Barry Jacobs' Fan's Guide, 1993?

"We haven't really had a kid like him," Krzyzewski says. "He's strong already. He's a good rebounder already. He can block shots. He just needs to learn how to play the game."

"[He] is as good an athlete as there is coming into the league," says Bob Gibbons of All Star Sports Report.
