Food and Alcohol

There aren't any Hardee's or Carl's Jr. anywhere near me. :(

Picked up four 32oz cans of Blonde Roast from Bond Bros today. I'm gonna get wicked hammered on these bad boys. They might be my favorite beer.

Despite my politics thread posts, I tapped a Sorachi Ace keg tonight and couldn't be happier.

Off to Chicago tomorrow for a conference. Besides Lagunitas (CA), what Chicago breweries should I attend?

I refuse to go to Anheuser Goose Island, especially since they just bought Wicked Weed (very bad news).

Goose Island is awful.

Try Revolution Brewing. It has two locations, and the one on Milwaukee has a nice bar space and good food as well.

My girlfriend, who has been here much longer and has excellent beer tastes, says Haymarket has really good beer. Half Acre, Three Floyds, Hopewell, and Two Brothers are big ones around here.

Lagunitas has a limited release beer out right now called The Waldo's. It's 12% ABV and only about $12 for 6. Has an interesting taste in a good way, and anything not awful at that ABV and price is fine.

I saw a Dogfish Head beer going for $44 for 4. I think it was 20% ABV. I will never buy that.

getting there! Tomorrow and Sunday are the big ones though. Didn't get to the hotel until 11:30 tonight and just got back from a place called Mother Hubbards. Interesting collection of people.

Was in Durham last week. Was extremely impressed by Luna Rotisserie and Empanadas. I recommend the patacon pisao (we all got the beef brisket). All the side items we got were excellent too. I want to go back ASAP to try a bunch of other things.

Been meaning to go there. What do you think of the new tower right there? Fits in well.

Really want to go here in Raleigh. New brewery that serves dim sum. Sounds like a weird combo. A guy I know, who is the biggest beer connoisseur I've ever met, says it's the best beer in the area.

Apparently, it has a bookstore and flower shop as well.

Went to The Durham's rooftop bar for the first time as well. Would have enjoyed it more in cooler weather, but still nice. Would love to stay in the hotel.

Ha, we're such regulars there that they're going to cater our wedding in September.

Ate lunch here Saturday and dinner at Mateo on Sunday two weeks ago. Good first weekend in the Triangle.

I had Pliny the Elder at Lake Taho about a month ago and I gotta say, its overhyped. I enjoyed the hell out of it, still probably a top 5 beer I've ever had, but it's not the clear cut best beer in the world like its reputation indicates.

Congrats Ben.
