Danny Manning has never beaten Duke in ten tries as the head coach, and unless something really unexpected happens, that streak will extend to 11 after tomorrow night.
Senior point guard Brandon Childress (s/n: Childress22) is the straw that stirs the drink for Wake when he's not using his free time to throw darts at a life-size cardboard cutout of Daryl Morey. He's not a particularly good shooter this season for whatever reason, but disrupting him will be the most important part of defending against Wake's attack.
It's unknown whether starting small forward Chaundee Brown will be back, as he sat out the FSU game with what's described as a lower body injury, and his status as of last update remains unknown. He is a decent scorer who gets to the line often and makes free throws, so it would be big setback for Wake if he does not dress.
Vernon Carey will have to find his verve after getting owned by Banks III in Atlanta, as Wake has a true 7'0 named Sarr who himself is a capable shotblocker and talented rebounder on both ends.
This Wake team gets to the line a LOT, and makes the majority of them once they are there, so Duke will have to play disciplined, especially since Wake has enough depth to match them in terms of bodies to throw out there. They're a decent three point shooting team - but hardly take them - while being very poor closer to the rim, and tend to turnover the ball a lot to pressure, so it might not be a bad idea at all to really swarm them around the perimeter and generate some easy transition points. Defensively they hit the glass very well, and are mediocre in just about every other respect.
We're 20 point favorites for a reason, so barring some crazy shooting or the entire team losing their balls on the glass again, we'll probably win this gimme game that's absolutely necessary not to drop when you're trying to win the league and secure the NYC region.
