Great halftime adjustments by K:
1. No ball pressure in the second half against a team that can't dribble.
2. Duke kept walking the ball up the court because getting buckets against a scrambling OSU defense was too easy in the first half.
3. Running 3 man weave last 3 possessions down court despite not converting out of it a single time.

It's honestly like he's trying to make it harder for the guys.

Scared faces are strong faces. You have to face your fears in order to overcome them.

Next year's roster is going to be stuck with this same shitty backcourt, isn't it? Maybe AJ will be good by next year, I guess.

Wow we had 185 straight wins when leading by 10+ at the half until tonight. Wow

Just listening to the clip of K's press conference - does he even think the shooting is a problem? Has he ever mentioned that over the past few years? Or does he just think, every time this happens, "wow, have to give it up to the other team tonight, they started playing hard and really great defense, and that's why we couldn't score anymore," when really the other team just started sagging off every shooter and going under every screen because they all can't shoot?

Eh, you can have a little hope that Moore gets bad NBA reviews, sticks around, and is moved to PG by Scheyer because of how loaded Duke is from 2 to 5 and because Scheyer isn’t dumb.

PG Moore
SG Whitehead
SF Griffin
PF Filipowski
C Lively

Not sure about defending quick guards, but that should be good offensively. Without Moore, yeah, there’s not a lot of hope for the PG spot unless Foster reclassifies or Roach makes the Moore leap as a junior. Scheyer probably won’t bring in transfers to start over guys who have been in the program for 2 years.

I know they've looked awful, but I'd actually bet on Roach and Keels being pretty good next year. 5-star guards that stick around tend to eventually become good college basketball players, and they've both flashed some good things in between all the sucking.

It would sure be nice to not have to play them all game every game this year, though. I get that Griffin is still struggling with the speed of the game, but it seems like the bar should be very low for him to take more of their minutes. He's not perfect, but is he really going to make more negative plays than they do?

AJ is low key pretty bad on defense at this point. So if he's not going to make shots, I'm not sure he's better than Keels. But he's probably better than Roach no matter what he does.

Abysmal offensive numbers from Banchero, Keels, Roach. Griffin with another 0% shooting game in 2 minutes played. I think of that sort of line as an "AJ" now, when the coaches oddly believe it's best to give him a few minutes but only very few, and he misses a shot or two and does nothing else in that time.

The big difference between Roach and Keels to me is that Roach doesn't absolutely murder Duke. He somewhat plays within himself and limits his own possessions, and has been safe with the ball this season. In defense of Keels, he doesn't have Jabari-like 30% usage or anything close to that - he's at 22%. However, if he played more like Roach, it would make a big difference for Duke - Roach is at 16% this season. Especially in the clutch, Keels seems to believe he is LeBron, and that sort of confidence will be a great attribute for him when he's playing at about 0.0000001% of LeBron's level, but right now Keels is right around 0.0000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000001% of LeBron's level.

Ideally, Baker would simply play more and Keels less for now, until Keels finds some semblance of the game he's supposed to have. I have to assume the AJs will continue for Griffin for the foreseeable future.

Roach has done a lot of good things lately, he just hasn't made shots. His main problems seem to be 1) bad shot decisions when going to the rim, and 2) bricking open threes.

Re: 1, he just commits to layups too readily on drives. You can do that when you're Paolo and you've got an average size college player on your hip, but not if you're 6'1 Roach. He needs to realize he is smol and cut that shit out. This is at least pretty easily coachable, though, and I'm optimistic it can be corrected even this season. He's at least getting into the lane very easily, which could be very useful if he stops ending half of such trips with pointless layup prayers.

2 is more disappointing to me. He's getting open looks, moreso than anyone else IMO, and still only hitting 25%. Really hoped for better after the trends from last season and this summer. I don't see how you can justify keeping him in a starting spot all year if he can't turn that around.
