Airing of Grievances Thread

Cut down a couple of dying cedar trees in the front yard, now I am trying to remove the stumps. Worst activity ever.

I started that same task on some tall pine stumps in my backyard last year. Take my advice. Give up and hire that shit out. I had some old guy come out with a robotic stump grinder and had 9 stumps ground to obliteration in 45 minutes for about $200.

Yeah, I once did about 10 pine stumps with an axe after Fran. Not recommended unless you just want the exercise. Took a few days.

Fran was a BITCH!! We had 59 trees come down in our yard. We also lost power for 2 weeks. My dad and I spent 2 weeks chainsawing, chopping and cleaning up tree debris. Later we found out he was having minor heart attacks through the whole thing. That led to double bypass surgery. So the take away is cigarettes are bad.

Tomorrow will mark the third straight day I've gone to the DMV. I wish they would just tell me everything I need the first time.

Got fucked over by Priceline today.

The wife and I are headed out of town for the weekend to visit some friends in Little Rock. Priceline was offering an "express deal" for a 3.5* hotel in the Little Rock West area. There are only two 3.5* hotels listed under Little Rock West on Priceline's website, and this deal appeared to be a great deal for those two hotels. So I make the deal, and when the confirmation comes through, it's for a 3.5* hotel in Little Rock Midtown. And it's definitely a shittier hotel I wouldn't have chosen because my wife is picky about such things. Well Priceline's website is no help, so I call customer service. The cust serv rep tells me that when I went to make the deal, there should have been a shaded area on a map that showed where the hotels could be that I might get through that particular deal. The shaded area for Little Rock West apparently includes the Midtown area for some reason although this is not explicitly stated anywhere, and they refuse to refund anything. I even told them I would book a hotel in the area that was advertised in the deal if they would just transfer the request or whatever. But they won't budge. Now I'm forced to document all of this shit and try to dispute the charge with my credit card.

I know....tl;dr for everyone here, but I had to angrily type away since none of the cancer patients here at my work would find this to be a real problem worth listening to.

That's exactly how all those things work. I use hotwire from time to time and it's the same deal. I'll usually google the description and they will have websites that tell you the likely hotel. Sometimes you get a great deal, sometimes you get the shaft. But hey, it's cheap.

Car in front of me today had a bumper sticker that said "Elevator men do it up and down". That's not even a joke.

Just set my alarm for 160 minutes from now for an early flight. This is not ideal.

I've always taken this as the First World Problems thread. So:

A person being a dick can really alter my mood quickly. I drove out to Walmart tonight, listening to a great album and enjoying the foggy deserted streets. When I got there it was closed. WTF, since when is that Walmart not 24 hours?

The guy at the door said "We're closed" loudly. So just out of curiosity, I asked him "Since when are you not 24 hours?" No answer. Follow-up: "Is that every day of the week?" No answer. "Look, I get that you're closed right now. I'm just wondering how new that is and whether it's every day?" He mumbles something involving possibly "8" or "April."

I leave in an irrational fury. Would it have killed him to answer a question? Literally all he was doing was standing and smoking with his coworkers. It's exact same amount of effort either way unless you have emphysema or don't speak English.

Woa weird. The 2 in Durham are 6:00-12:00. The one I used to go to in Raleigh off Glenwood is still 24 hrs.

Durham was the first place I ever went where the Walmart actually closed (they probably weren't open 24/7 when I was young but whatever). It killed me because I loved shopping late at night when no one else was out. I was there one evening when they announced they were closing, and I was like "WTF?" They dropped bars in front of the doors and everything when they closed up. It was weird. As a sheltered kid who had moved there from a low crime area, I was scared and never returned to that Walmart.

And yeah, employees being dicks really angers me as well.

I could have sworn that one was open 24 hours at some point in the not-too-distant past. Maybe I'm just wrong -- in which case I'm a little less angry at the guy. He still could have answered my question in some sort of way.

I was also already prone to be annoyed, since I'd driven out there for absolutely no other reason, under the assumption that a Walmart in any decent-sized city is 24/7. I get why the Walmart in a place like Tarboro isn't 24 hours. They're a town of 20,000.

That's pretty much the size town I grew up in, and that Walmart never closes except for Christmas (and maybe part of Thanksgiving to get ready for Black Friday?).

I guess I'll have to get fatter to be able to purchase shirts off the rack that fit. I've always been too cheap to pay for tailored dress shirts, but I've about had enough. The only options are "standard fit" which is usually boxy as hell and hangs off my waist like giant dress or "slim fit" which will fit the mid-section fine but is made for guys with no chest or shoulders. When I was in college I found some cheap brand at JC Penney that had "athletic fit" which was bigger in the neck/shoulders/chest but tapered down for a slimmer waist. Those were the best-fitting shirts I have ever found, but the athletic fit arms were too big for my scrawny arms.

tl;dr They need to make a shirts fitted for weirdly shaped guys who have the neck, chest, and shoulders of an athlete but the arms and waist of a scrawny prepubescent.

Basically, just make a different version of slim fit that doesn't take any inches off the chest/shoulders.

Fizz humblebragging so hard about the inconveniences of his godlike physique.

You should definitely start buying garbage $15 shirts and paying the $10 to get the sides taken in, though. Much cheaper and less risky than something like iTailor.
