Duke News Article/Publicity Thread

Yes, we're in for so much of this bullshit if Duke beats MSU. Glad it won't happen. I just feel like, hey fuck you, I long ago learned to enjoy being in the biggest troll fanbase of the biggest troll team of all sports, we don't need these apologetic "wow this is a cool new feeling" bullshit articles about possibly liking Duke. Maybe I just root for MSU now, and enjoy the MSU win tomorrow.

I started liking Duke when they were the cool underdog. One thing I found inaccurate about the Laettner documentary is how much it focused on UNLV being the cool team to like and Duke being the "villains." At that time, Duke was a rock star team and not nearly as widely hated. They were viewed more like a Butler than a contemporary Duke.

Granted, I was 6-12 years old, so my perceptions might have been off. But I recall a ton of racially motivated comments about UNLV being "thugs" and a ton of suspicion about their amateur status. White people didn't feel quite the level of liberal guilt they do about rooting teams with white players. This was right after the 80s when characters like Long Duck Dong and the main character of Soul Man existed.

Re: the bolded - I was (and remain) a John Hughes fan, but it was inexcusable that he created that character. Has nothing to do about being 'pc'...that shit was plain offensive

Someone posted this on TDD... looks like we have another porn star in our corner:

I'm not familiar with her work, but she looks 100x better looking than Knox

She grew up in Maryland and went to UT-El Paso. No connection to North Carolina or Florida.

Apparently she got her start in the "business" when a customer at the restaurant where she worked approached her and asked if she had ever considered a career in pornography. I wonder how often that works?

Jesus doesn't have a big rack, though

Someone here will need to do the dirty work and actually listen to the podcast, and then let us know how it goes. This could potentially be an awkwardly great way for a Duke fan to kill time. It could also be filled with Keeley's political opinions on why her life is worse than living in third world country.

I actually started listening to it over lunch today. I just can't stand to listen to Andrew Carter very long. Keeley had barely said two things before I turned it off.

I'll do it, but I don't know or care about anything besides basketball. So I might not be the most qualified.

I listened to it. It was:

5 minutes of basketball talk.

20 minutes of commentary on the challenges of being a single female sports journalist in your 20's.

35 minutes of slapping, grunting, moaning, and slurping noises.

Good and not-too-long talk with Keeley about a bunch of stuff:

"What was with Plumlee's defense in the first half? Was he trying to avoid fouls?"
Capel: "No, he just wasn't playing well."

Amile not back anytime soon.
