Duke Recruiting General Discussion

Or Diamond Stone, or whoever. I think it's just that these last several recruiting classes have gone so well that I'm entirely without the recruiting anxieties I used to have.

To use an inappropriate metaphor, I felt like someone trying to get interested in porn immediately after having really great sex.

I don't understand that at all from every single thing I've seen from both highlight videos and in-game performance. I'm probably wrong, though. I usually am.

But I also don't think we need another 2015 player, even if he is as good as his draft projection. If we were going to add one, I'd want it to be a PG. We're in serious competition for players projected equally high in the next class, when we actually will need them.

If Ingram is a one and done, we definitely wouldn't gain too much from having him. I can still say with a straight face that Ojeleye should be better than him next season. Don't know how much longer. If he is a typical UNC-type early departure tweener who barely decides to stay for an extra season or two, then we could use him. I'd rather get someone like that next class, so there's less overlap with Ojeleye, who at this point can still be good.

On Ingram, he seems like the kind of guy that's projected as a one and done because of his potential (size plus growing skill set), but may not be an impact player on Day 1, which I'm not sure does a whole lot for us.

If you're not going to be a big time contributor in year 1, and then you leave after a year or two, it's pretty much a wasted scholarship. If we're going to get one and dones, or even two year guys, I want them to be Day 1, 25 plus minute players that can legitimately help Duke win a title. Otherwise, better off with more program continuity and teams with upperclassmen starters.

Basically, if you're going to go hard after one and dones, let's go all on the can't miss guys. From what I have seen and heard, not sure Ingram fits the bill.

I assume he'll end up at State or UCLA since he doesn't want to play for a school that won't be allowed in the 2015 postseason.

I noticed that Jerry Meyer changed his crystal ball prediction on Giles from UNC to Wake after the Wainstein report came out.

Which makes me think it will be us. Do recruits of his stature really go to Wake at this point?

Wake might actually make sense for him. Head coach with a rep for producing big men, get as many touches as he can handle, revive a dead program, etc. I still can't see him not playing at Duke or UK though.

Danny Manning is playing a huge role in his interest in Wake. Also, there seems to be something there about Childress and his son playing with Giles.

My son turns 2 this weekend, but if Harry Giles is into playing with cars and trains, I'm sure they'd have a good time.

Haha maybe we need to be wary if Giles is hanging out with your son!!

It is actually nothing but a gamble play for Crystal Ball points if Giles picks Wake. I'm serious.
