Looking at Cuddyer's splits, they've actually been pretty good away from Colorado. It's probably not as bad of a deal as I first thought if he can stay on the field and be an average or above-average player. I think Fangraphs valued WAR at $5M each, and I don't see Cuddyer reaching 4.2 WAR over the next two years but he should provide adequate RH pop. I'm not sure if defensive metrics are to be totally trusted but Cuddyer has been among the worst right fielders in baseball over the last few years too. Is he a platoon option with Eric Young?

Cuddyer used to be a great fielder, but that's dropped off recently. He'll play right and they'll have a Gold Glove center fielder covering up some of the deficiencies. Cuddyer will also probably be a late inning replacement for Duda at first or even take some days there against lefties if Duda remains below the Mendoza line against them next year. I bet Eric Young is not back next year. They have Nieuwenhuis, who was solid last year and Den Dekker for the outfield. Young was straight up awful.

Tigers re-sign 36 year old Victor Martinez for 4 years, $70 million. DH who had a 3rd best in career 4.4 WAR last season. This team is so fucking old. Get a bullpen.

Low level trade that gives the Tigers a very traditional lineup where the CF, SS and C are all excellent defensively but can't hit at all, while the DH, 1B and LF are bashers who can barely move. I'd much rather have Gose than Prince Fielder.

This is hysterical

Braves trade of Jason Heyward likely means they're punting until 2017 and the new stadium. Dunno why they're meeting with Lester tomorrow since he'll want and get a deal longer than 5 years (he's 32).

To be fair, Heyward might be replaceable. He had a 5.1 WAR and 110 wRC+. Marcell Ozuna had a 114 wRC+ and 3.7 WAR.

A rotation of Teheran, Lester, Miller, Wood, Santana could matchup with SF or Washington.

Though I'm being lenient to Miller who had a shit year

^an unbelievable story, which I completely believe. Fuck espn.

What do you guys think about the Blue Jays trading for Donaldson?

Huge upgrade for the Jays, baffling decision for the A's. Donaldson is 2nd in WAR, behind Trout, over the last two years. He's going to rake hitting in front of Bautista or Edwin.

Without knowing how good Cespedes is defensively, I know he is better than the guy he's replacing, Torii Hunter, defensively.

Porcello was always the player most similar to Duke's defense to me - had to talk yourself into thinking he was good by looking at obscure stats because he only throws low 90s and will never be better than a finesse guy who is entirely dependent on BABIP, just as Duke's defense is the style of defense you don't want your team to be playing and it needs to be somewhat lucky to be great, but you can talk yourself into thinking it might work out in the end. But it won't.
