Player Quinn Cook

Nicely done. I liked the passion and I hope he's catapulted himself to another level this year.

Should I start a 'who do you think won't have a huge breakout year this year' thread?

That could be entertaining...

DBP always brings it. Key to the season right there. Key from good, very good to elite, championship level.

Named starting PG today. Wouldn't have been done if he hadn't earned it.

Pretty unusual to win a contested position battle before day one of practice. I thinknit is pretty clear that he is healthier and improved and that Thornton has embraced his backup role ahead of time and more or less made that clear to Quinn and K. Very very good situation all around.

I like that its settled early. Can gameplan and practice accordingly and prevent any kind of learning delay.

Thornton is the perfect guy to do what's best for the team. I agree.

Yep.

Most encouraging part of this? It shows that K has been impressed enough with his commitment to make this announcement now.

"The hardest part of coming back from an injury is getting there mentally,” Cook said. “I just battled with pains here and there, then I stopped believing in myself because I wasn’t playing. I was not feeling motivated to practice because I wasn’t confident in myself. I wasn’t in the best shape. My teammates never believed in me because they never played with me until the first day of practice.

“Just coming from high school to Duke basketball, this is a whole different level and you need months to prepare. By missing my whole spring and summer and not preparing was definitely a setback. That’s what’s motivated me this summer and last spring."

I think it was only a question in the minds of some fans. I think the coaching staff always knew that TT started at PG last year because Seth's transition didn't work out and Quinn wasn't healthy. I love TT's effort and heart but I believe he was recruited as a backup PG and only became the starting PG last year out of necessity.

Welcome, BlkDiamnd2!!

Yes, welcome. And thanks for reminding me to watch that video again... it has me pumped for the season to start!
