The Degenerates Thread

This shit is happening to me in earnest now. My gambling days are numbered. There’s one book Where my max bet on anything with boosted odds is $4.90. Another capped me at $25 before eliminating those bets from my view a few weeks later. Another just gives me stupid specials no one would never bet on now. I’ve heard of people with $0.80 limits. Fun for the one year it lasted.

Need some advice from the degenerates of TDF. I have never bet on a sporting event other than a couple random $20 bets back as a teenager. I am seriously considering dropping some money on UNC in the Duke game. What are the best or easiest sites to do so? And I should bet ML, not the spread, since I really only care about hedging against a Duke loss, right?

I’m not talking about a massive bet here, but I guess I would need to bet enough for the winnings to make a Duke loss palatable.

Looks like there’s only one mobile sportsbook in Arkansas at the moment, and it’s this one:

Their intro promo is a “risk-free” bet up to $250. You’ll get $250 in free bets back (not straight cash) if your bet loses.

In promos like that, whether or not you’re abusing it by betting the other side at another book, the best value is betting on a longshot. UNC moneyline isn’t ideal but it’s not terrible. Should be something like +175. So opt into the promo and bet $250 on that. When UNC wins, you’ll win like $450.

If that’s not enough to make you whole emotionally (frankly, I don’t think there is an amount that would accomplish this), you can bet more on UNC outside the promo.

So moving the Pantone discussion over here - SMTTEM, what site would you recommend for this drive to Virginia idea? I'm seriously considering doing the same. BetMGM? DraftKings? A different one?

All the big names are reliable for depositing and withdrawing no matter what state you're in, I've found, so I'd just pick whatever one has a first bet promo that works for your budget/bankroll and offers relatively good odds on the bet you're trying to make. Be careful to read the fine print to make sure non-state residents can take advantage of the promos - I've heard some state-specific books, like some small-time places in Colorado, require an in-state driver's license. I don't think this is the case for the big names, but not sure. Then again, if you're filthy rich like NOD, the promo is irrelevant. You could even call their support number ahead of time to ask if this "driving across the border" idea will actually work on their app. They'd be happy to help you sink money into them.

Stupid motherfuckers in the NC House were about to pass the sports betting bill that excluded amateur sports (Olympics) and youth sports betting, but included college betting.

Some neck put forward an amendment to remove college sports as well, pointing back to the Dixie Classic and State (Jimmy V era) point shaving scandals despite the fact that gambling was illegal then!

These goddamn assholes.

One guy said he was going to vote against because he thought Jesus would vote against.

I can't wait to leave this backwards fucking country.

Additional amendments could be offered, including one that would prohibit the use of credit cards in opening up wagering accounts.

lol

Rep.
John Autry
, D-Mecklenburg, was a former associate producer and editor of coaching shows with former North Carolina men’s basketball coaches Dean Smith and Bill Guthridge. He brought forth the amendment to prohibit college sports betting, citing a point-shaving scandal involving North Carolina and N.C. State in the late 1950s and early 1960s.

I made 4 bets this weekend totaling a whooping $25.00. I won 3 of the 4 bets and won a grand total of.... $11.31. Big time gambler right here.

I started out with $10 in November of 2021 and hardly ever bet unless I feel confident (though the Oregon bet yesterday was purely a prayer bet that I knew wouldn't win). I am up to around $90. Plan on betting against Nebraska football almost every week since they still suck.

This is pretty much all the major retail sportsbooks out there. Sign-up promos should effectively be a free $5-10k (pre-tax) to every NC resident on day one when played properly. Let me know if you need any help. The catch is you will need significant liquidity for arbitraging the promos across sportsbooks, and I guess there's risk of becoming a degenerate afterward and losing it all back.

Too bad for them that UNC will probably be 3-2 to win the title by then.

Last I saw, the bill excluded in-state college teams from betting. Not sure if that made it into the final.

No in-state college teams is fine. No college player props is what some states do, which is crushing. It restricts college game markets to almost nothing - spreads, totals, moneylines, halves, quarters.

With sports betting on the horizon in NC, what's the best way to get started to maximize promos with my initial investment?

I'm looking to finally capitalize on predicting losses for my favorite team that wins 75% of it's games.
