College Basketball 2024-2025

Do the Boozers really want to play for Mark Pope or a gutted Miami program over Duke? GMAFB

The Boozers should come to Duke, but if Scheyer is going to continue reeling in elite recruits, we have to do well next season (which we should, roster construction is going well on paper thus far). Scheyer doesn't have the track record that Coach K did, so he can't really absorb a disappointing season from the team with the most hyped prospect in years on the roster. It doesn't have to be a banner year, but we can't have a weird year where we implode like UNC did when they were pre-season #1, or fall out of the top 25, etc.

The stakes are raised much higher with Flagg, and it seems like Scheyer knows this since he forced out much of the roster to bring in seasoned veterans that work well with Flagg's skillset.

FWIW, we have a conference home/away with Miami. I bet the ACC is sure to be bummed after they realize what they assumed would be a competitive series will end up being two guaranteed wins by double digits.

If the Boozers attend either game, I hope Scheyer runs up the score and acts like a Dan Hurley-tier megalomaniacal asswipe when he sees them in the stands.

Yeah, Kansas is fucking stacked (there are rumors the kid from Florida, Riley Kugel, won’t make it to Kansas now). And apparently they’re not done. At this point we’ve gotta hope for chemistry issues or else they’re going to murder us.

There is no school with more incentive to invest disproportionately in men’s basketball than Kansas. Duke apparently focuses a ton of resources on its medical facilities and educational programs, which is highly disappointing and borderline repulsive, but we can all understand why the Duke oldheads might choose that path.

UConn’s best title odds available have fallen from 20-1 to 10-1 since the national title night. I expect Hurley to have them as heavy favorites by early next season.

We'd be pretty gloomy with UConn's roster, IMO. They're going to be very white, with a lot of great shooters and maybe not a ton else.

The Hurley effect has become so great that you just assume any remotely capable roster will perform at the very top percentile of its potential, though. While we'd be stressed about where offense creation would come from against the Houstons of the world, it just goes without saying that he'll put in such a killer system to optimize strengths and minimize weaknesses that they'll be unstoppable.

Looks like it'll be the battle of the blue bloods with KU/Uconn/Unc/Duke all potentially being in the top 5 next season.

With an open all out free agency every offseason, not surprising. Would not surprise me if a team with UCLA like dominance returned if someone manages to paired a top coach with top level spending.

Kentucky might be all-in on pivoting to portal over HS recruiting, but we won't know for sure until next offseason.

Kentucky fans went to sleep last night with virtually no one in their backcourt and woke up in the morning to the best shooting backcourt in college basketball parked in their garage, as a gift from the portal.
