Duke Bball Alumni

On the night Duke lost in the Sweet Sixteen due largely to disastrous outside shooting, the king of losing games for Duke in the Sweet Sixteen due to disastrous outside shooting made his first career clutch jumper to win a game.

Even this event could not be shame-free for Duke, however.

I know they have played together for a while now, but it still cracks me up seeing Redick and Chris Paul celebrate together like that.

I think Childress mentioned this, but here it is in tweet form:

Keep it up and maybe the Kings will finally fire some people for incompetence.

Seth Curry continues to kill it now that he's being given a chance.

In his past 6 games, after a string of DNPs:

53% FG (31-59)
50% 3PT (14-28)
93% FT (14-15)
26.2 minutes per game
15.0 points per game
2.2 assists per game
1.5 turnovers per game

Is there some unwritten law that every idiot at every stage of basketball has to doubt you if your name is Curry?

Decent nuts and bolts article on the Curry/Kings situation:
http://www.cbssports.com/nba/eye-on-bas ... ve-options

Curry can probably get something like 4 years $16 million if he opts out this summer. There will be tons of cap space being thrown around, but unfortunately not by any of the title contenders at that price for a bench guy. Curry's smarter move would be to go to a franchise/coach that will play him consistent minutes, on a shorter deal that allows him to earn an even bigger long term contract. Something like 2 years, player option after 1 year, $3 million a year. Basically a 50% raise from his current deal, with an extra year at his option. Average ~15 efficient points a game in starter/6th man minutes, and get a deal for 4 years $24 million the next summer.

Teams that could play him a lot next season, in order of competitiveness:

Grizzlies - They've needed shooting for years.
Pistons - They desperately need (1) a backup combo guard and (2) shooting.
Bulls - Same.
Knicks - Same, if they're ready to give up on Jerian Grant, who is only two years younger than Curry.
Nets - They need raw production at every position and have no incentive to tank.
Lakers - Same, but they might want to tank another season.
Sixers - Same, but they want to tank another season.

Pelicans would likely have a role for him as well I think. For such an injury-prone team, their guard depth has been embarrassing this season.

I feel like it has to be about the coach/situation. Starting out somewhere new just to finally get burn by the end of the season isn't worth it. The Pelicans/Gentry really liked him after Summer League, but weren't offering nearly the guaranteed money Sac did. Maybe they feel differently after watching him do well. Phoenix is kind of a dumpster fire, but that's a place where he could carve out a big role.

I could see the Nets working okay. I also think Houston is a team that has no one who can shoot on their whole bench, although they are for all intents and purposes the Nets of the West, except they have "smart" Daryl Morey instead of "dumb" Billy King to blame spending a top-8 payroll to have a team likely miss the playoffs. I'm wary of both of these places; I'd rather see him go somewhere and be smartly used as an indispensible bench player for a good/championship team than have a green light on a bad team.

Obviously guys like Curry and Parker have played great since the All-Star break, but in a more low-key way, Austin Rivers has put together one of his best stretches, too.

In 16 games since the break: 22.7 mpg, .466 FG, .442 3PT, .707 FT, 10.9 pts, 2.2 rebs, 1.7 asts, 1.0 turnovers.

Played his best game of the season against the best team in the NBA. Typical Tyus Stones.

Speaking of National Champion guards with huge gonads...

Not sure where this fits but it involves Johnny D, so I'll post it here.

Lulz. He shot 50/44/72 this year. He didn't brick that many shots. Anyway, this makes me happy. The only UCF player I could name before this was Taco Bell, and I think Aubrey could be really good at a place like UCF.

The kid has shot 44% from 3pt as both a freshman and a sophomore, but only averaged 3 attempts per game both years. Playing for his dad in the AAC should open up that chance to make that more like 8 attempts.

This is a few weeks old but I just stumbled across it on twitter and it made me smile. Dre with Ryan Kelly's son.

Dre is clearly watching the game and not the baby. Also texting on the side.

I can't tell you how many years I've been waiting for someone to upload this shit.
