Duke Bball Alumni

I may be the last person on this board to see it, but I watched the Duke back-to-back documentary before the Jays game tonight. My favorite parts were when they showed the team watching their 1st championship game together....it was nice moment.

Sounds like Marshall is dominating.

Watching Cook understand spacing and change of pace so well and take primarily layups and threes makes me excited for our high IQ guards of the future like Kennard and Jackson. It also makes me depressed about what will come after them.

Marshall Plumlee made the Knicks roster. He is on pace to be the most beloved white Knick benchwarmer ever, and that is saying something.

As of Sunday, there were 43 white Americans on 30 NBA teams with the season starting Tuesday. Eight teams didn’t have a white American player entering last season, while seven teams don’t have one now.

DraftExpress projects one 1st round pick will be a white American this year.

7 of those 43 white Americans, or 16%, are former Duke players. I imagine that is the highest of any school by far. 7% are Plumlees.

6 of those 43 are us. 7 if you count Marshall. 16.3%.

Should be near 25% once Grayson, Luke, and Alex O'Connell make rosters.

“JJ could, and sometimes would, have beers the night before a game in college,” says Redick’s friend and former Duke teammate Shavlik Randolph. “And yet he’d still be the best player on the court the next day.”

Probably did this during all four NCAA Tournaments.

“But that was before he traded in the baggy sweats for tight dark jeans and other items from the Russell Westbrook Collection,” Payne says. “If I made a speech today I’d be sure to mention his new wardrobe.” Not surprisingly, Redick’s new love for fitted pants and exotic shirts has drawn the attention of those who have known him for years. “The jeans have definitely gotten skinnier and darker,” says Tom Hagan, another longtime friend. Adds Chris Collins, the current Northwestern head coach and former Duke assistant who recruited Redick to Durham, “It’s especially funny because he’s a kid who grew up in a log cabin in Roanoke, VA, and now he’s dressing like a model.”
