Hell yes. Talk about a guy who has had to scrape his way to the top the last ten years. Him and Seth making it are such great stories.

It still burns me how short sighted Cleveland was for passing on them both given some of the piles of shit they have on their roster.

Nice. Who could have ever believed Quinn Cook and Seth Curry could compete on the same level as Reggie Bullock?

The NBA rule changes have actually helped make skill a priority over size (at least everywhere but center).

The Cavs couldn't have used him though. The corpse of Deron Williams is much more valuable.

If he can bring himself to hate Duke a little bit more, ESPN will find a spot for him next to Jay and Jay.

So this whole thing appears to be really stupid--I shouldn't be surprised.

First of all, I'm pretty sure David Cutcliffe didn't come up with the rule that you can't transfer to a team in the same conference. In fact, I thought that actually was a rule and not something coaches did on their own. But anyway, why on earth would you let a player you think is good go to a conference rival? If Joel Berry and Theo and Luke Maye woke up this morning and decided they all wanted to transfer to Duke, is Roy supposed to sit there and take it?

I guess none of the other 300-something D-1 schools (200-something for football) are good enough?

I never thought if was an actual rule, but more like a non-compete agreement. But don't say that to Jay, he'll then go on a tangent about college athletes being treated as employees, without being compensated as employees.

I think the distinction is that it's a grad transfer so he's already fulfilled his commitment in full and should be released without restriction. That said I am not sure if an LOI is written in terms of a commitment for the duration of one's undergraduate tenure or for the standard four year eligibility period.

Regardless of that nuance, Bilas will always take the side of the athlete as his entire thesis/platform rests on the notion that college athletics is a completely broken system oppressive to athletes.

Restricting someone's school choice from 350 options to 340, when that person is more than free to enter the NBA draft or sign a contract overseas for whatever he's worth, is not very much to get worked up about.
