SignUp Now!Obi and his family decided the offer was a generous one and jumped on board. The rest, as they say, is history, one which is rapidly getting more notice around the northeast. Through nine games, Obi has averaged nearly 24 points and 20 rebounds per game, all while holding down exemplary grades at GFA, one of the state's most challenging academic prep schools. The dueling impressive statistics have made the tiny gyms GFA typically plays in frequent destinations for Ivy League scouts from programs like Harvard and Columbia.
The sophomore, who is typically described as quiet and thoughtful, spends most of his free time studying or Skyping with his family back in Nigeria. While there is little question that his talent will carry him to the next level, his adoptive family and coach have been quick to limit his exposure, for fear of jolting his gradual acclimation process, which all said has been smooth for the relatively fluent English speaker.
"This kid, you'll never meet anyone that works harder at anything," Steve Eggers told the Post. "He's not a one-dimensional kid."
Almost exactly a year ago, Prep Rally brought you the story of Sean Obi, a Nigerian immigrant who emerged seemingly out of thin air to dominate the boys basketball scene in Fairfield County, Connecticut. Well, it appears that his early 2010 exploits were only the tip of the iceberg, as Obi is now busy demolishing the existing basketball records for his Westport (Conn.) Greens Farms Academy squad.
Perhaps more significantly, the 14 points and 30 rebounds marked the 30th consecutive game in which Obi has notched a double-double. Considering how rare those performances are at the high school level (it's the double-digit rebounds that usually provide the biggest obstacle, not the points), earning 30 in a row is nothing short of remarkable.
Precisely where that future lands the power forward/center prospect is certainly still open to interpretation. While Obi continues to get more attention, he lags off the national radar. He is unranked among prospects by Rivals.com, Scout.com and ESPN, and has yet to make any college contacts he has had public.
Hello! I'm Sean's American Mom. He is such a wonderful kid. Smart and kind and loyal. All good. And you ask about the colleges interested in him? Stamford, UVA, Harvard, Princeton, UPenn, Columbia, Tulane, Wake Forest, Dartmouth, Cornell...He's great pals with Andre Drummond and plays with CBC AAU with his American brother, Hunter Eggers. See you at the AAU tournaments in April. Las Vegas and new England.
just shows that a lot of these recruiting boards are about the hype, and not about the substance of going to games, watching kids actually play. The kids that go to the camps, do their own highlite reels get the hype....Sean is big, he has quick feet and soft hands...and is very strong. I was at this game and the other team had 2 6'9" players and they were terrified...settling for pull up jumpers and fade aways, rather than risk the wrath of Sean.
If i give him all my information will he give me lots of money?rhfarmer said:I heard he is actually a Nigerian Prince!!!!!!!!!!!

Need another point guard. Weird that they aren't trying too hard to get one.

I mean, Jones/Curry/Hood... those are three fantastic players.

Yeah, I don't understand this decision in the slightest. Hopefully Dorsey opens his recruitment back up as rumored. (Of course, even he is not a true PG).
