Duke Recruiting General Discussion

So, Daeny is on ESPNU with Maker right now, btw. Good athlete obviously, but really not doing much of anything. Maybe Thornton just really is better.

Actually, he's looked pretty good since I said that. Playing off the ball though, and his team is dominating so not too much action for him.

Jaylen Brown is the truth, by the way. He had a lot of trouble converting at the rim in the first half, but once they started calling fouls he was pretty much unstoppable.

Also, Thon Maker seems like a really nice person.

I'd like to finish off the 2015 class with Ingram and Brown - Ingram as the 4-year SF and Brown as the one and done SF, with Semi sitting on the bench behind Brown as a junior before becoming NPOY as a senior.

Have the Jaylen Brown mixtapes been posted here? They're on a tier right below the Wall and Wiggins mixtapes.

Excuse my ignorance, but what is that Duke gym 10 seconds into the first clip? Card gym? Or what?

Why would he be playing ahead of Jayson Tatum as a senior? The correct answer is that after logging 492 career minutes (shooting 55/45/85 in those limited appearances), he will be drafted #11 in the 2017 NFL draft and finish his hall of fame career with 972 catches and 114 TDs. K only recruited him to hold down Cut and the football program.

Makes me so sad we didn't make him a priority. Like, if we're ever going after a OAD, isn't he the perfect one? Elite defender, good 3PT range, unstoppable scorer but also an elite passer.

Him + Winslow on the wing would be just terrifying.

We don't like guys who are that elite. They've got to be more finesse.

Frankly, I am surprised that we even recruited Winslow (and glad).

I see on tha twitters that Troy Brown is on campus today (2017 PG, listed at 6'5"-6'6" already)

Obligatory videos:

I've never seen a highlight video where five minutes go by before the highlighted player attempts a field goal.

Anyone been watching the USA U17 games on ESPNU? If you search "U17" on your TV guide, you can record the next three (Thu, Fri, Sat). I DVRed the Japan one on Monday, watching now. While it is only one game, it is a competitive, tightly-contested game (currently 110-31), so I feel that it is sufficient for conclusive player evaluations.

Everything about Tatum is just gorgeous. If Semi's body is the basketball equivalent of the girl with huge boobs, he's the swimsuit model. Legit 6'8-6'9, long arms, wide shoulder, built really solidly despite being so long. Reminds me of how Dwight Howard was built as a high schooler. He's not quick-twitch explosive, but he's crazy skilled, smooth, and long (er...). He almost has some 6'9-poor-man's-Steph-Curry in him.

Giles is very tall, long, quick, and explosive with a good frame. The potential SF talk is nonsense, though. Didn't look all that skilled, but doesn't need to be, obviously.

Ellenson is a slightly richer man's Wear twin. Dislike. Hope he goes to Wisconsin, where he could probably be pretty good.

Stone looked like a pretty safe bet to be a solid NBA center. He's not Shaq, but he's a baller.

Rabb was garbage and showed nothing. Maybe he just didn't GAF, but I would have guessed he was maybe 20-30 in his class, not top 3.

Swanigan, I don't know. Hard to tell much about a sneaky fat guy against a bunch of tiny asian kids.
