Duke Recruiting General Discussion

UCLA thinks they are getting Jeter and Brown. Arizona who probably is getting Jeter if we don't doesn't even talk about him.
 



Wouldn't worry about Maker's offense too much. At Duke, he's a 1-2 FG, 0-0 3PT, 2-4 FT, 4 points, 10 rebounds, 3 blocks guy.

Jaylen Brown looked like an obvious lottery pick and basically the perfect all-around SF. Wish we'd been on him earlier.

I'm pretty much on board with just going after as many of the best players as we can get every year until K retires at this point, especially with the 2-year rule coming. Player development and experience can GFY, just entertain me.
 
I watched the first half, Jeter's team is just garbage. Don't remember any passes after someone started driving, he barely got any touches. Looks like the ideal college big to me.
 
What I thought when I saw him in the FIBA games was that he had good low post moves but lacked the strength to execute them against good defending bigs.
 
I thought he looked great today. Didn't realize he was long enough to be a legitimate rim predictor/rebounder/finisher type. He needs to get stronger, but apparently is only freaking 16.

Jaylen Brown, otoh, is perfect. Winslow with more size, a great shot, and elite vision/passing. What a huge crush I have.
 
According to scout posters, Smith Jr. will not be coming to Duke. What a drag. Is this old news?

No, it seems quite recent. I've read online that it's not just Duke that's backed off in a hurry, but also UNC and even UK. I don't know the details, but the way this is playing out does lead to some safe - but sad - assumptions.

Not good enough on the court anymore, or demanded money. The former is hard to believe since Duke was all in on him as of a few days ago.

He also tweeted that Duke and State are pushing the hardest for him. So are we or are we not recruiting him anymore? Or is this an attempt by him to keep up a facade of Duke still recruiting him for image purposes?
 
He probably didn't realize his demand of $250k from whatever school wants to land him would turn off just about every school, and now he needs to keep up the facade of a few great programs still going after him, just to salvage an offer from any decent program.
