Duke Forum is required by Title IX to have a women's basketball thread.

Looks like Baylor is heavily favored to repeat with the most dominant women's basketball player ever back for her senior year, and UConn and Duke are alone in the 2nd tier.

2011-12: Lost in the Elite Eight. Notable returners: Elizabeth Williams (14.0 ppg, 7.8 rpg); Chelsea Gray (12.5 ppg, 4.9 rpg, 6.1 apg); Tricia Liston (12.0 ppg, 3.96 rpg).

If sophomore center Elizabeth Williams is completely healed from the stress fracture issue that plagued her toward the end of last season, the Blue Devils have the pieces in place to reach their first Final Four since 2006. Williams and point guard Chelsea Gray form what is probably the country's second best post/point guard duo. Ultimately, Duke's success will be measured by its ability to get over the hump against the rest of the nation's elite in March.

Women beat Iona 100-31. Sometimes I wish there was as little parity in men's BBall as women's. Seems like we haven't had a good rout in a while.

#3 UConn beats #4 Duke by 30. Women's basketball is such a different animal.

Coach McCallie doesn't seem like she can win a National Championship at Duke.

During the game, ESPN showed a graphic on Duke's losses to UConn since 2008 (so 5 meetings). IIRC, the lowest margin of defeat was 16 points.

Even with such a talented team, the final score wasn't even close in a 6th meeting.

I don't remember Coach G's Duke teams getting beat this badly by UConn.

Eh, Duke should consider themselves lucky to replace a coach that can lead a team to consistent top 5 rankings with another coach that is doing the same. IMO, people who complain about McCallie are a bunch of ingrate crybabies and have no understanding of the basic facts: there is a giant schism between the 2-3 title contenders and every other program. Suck it up. Deal with it.
