Food and Alcohol

Just finished a Carrboro/Chapel Hill pubcrawl with dinner at the Lantern. Was fun, but could have benifited from some coeds. Brunch at Acme. Excited for that.

I’m moving back to Philadelphia and am staying with a friend in the burbs until my apartment is ready in the city. I’ve had a meal at Wawa everyday for the last five days.

They have surprisingly good coffee.

When I think of Pennsylvania grocery stores, I think of the Wegmans that was inexplicably located in my town of 40,000 and how amazing it was.

Also, I miss Philly. Not the cheesesteaks though. Garbage. (I'll take this to the Playa Haters' thread.)

Wegman’s is the best grocery store I’ve shopped in. Perfect combination of higher end foods with really competitive prices. Also the convenience of being able to buy beer there is great.

Most cheesesteaks seem to be subpar to the point that I’d expect any restaurant around the country to be able to replicate some of the worst that I’ve had in Philly. Dalesandro’s in Roxboro is a legitimately great sandwich though.

I just don't like the lack of condiments on a "true" Philly cheesesteak. Turns out adding lettuce, tomato, and mayo (like they do elsewhere) makes it a much moister sandwich.

I do enjoy cheese whiz though.

Italian Pizzeria on Guess Road has an amazing cheesesteak. I had a fantastic buffalo chicken cheesesteak at Carowinds of all places last weekend. They have Chickie and Pete's there and it was surprisingly good.

No, but I really want to. It's awesome that they have a brewery in Chicago. Really keeps the price down around here.

I've been into Chipotle maybe three times in the past few years. Every time I've been stunned at how bad it is. I remember it being boring white person food before. I don't remember it being just straight-up awful.

This just confirms my theory about culture in general: popularity is determined by ubiquity and not the other way around. Put something on every street corner and people will convince themselves it must be good.

Qdoba is much more popular in my area than Chipotle. I'm actually not sure I've ever had Chipotle.

There are very few Qbobas in Chicago. It's decent, imo. But maybe that's just because I am comparing it to the horror that is Chipotle.
