Food and Alcohol

@aiw I tried bone marrow for the first time recently. Was surprisingly un-into it. Such a gamey taste.

I was expecting to love it, so it was pretty disappointing. Does Jack Tar do a bad job with it, or am I just hopeless?
Never had it at Jack Tar and probably wouldn’t even consider it there. How was it served? Try it at Mateo

I’m in Raleigh for the weekend and ate at Parkside yesterday and the brunch was fucking amazing. I had short rib eggs Benedict and I will drive to raleigh again just to eat that

In addition to Parkside and Bhavana, have also been to Videri, Crank Arm, Trophy (the pizza one), some chain gelato place, which was good, Boxcar and transfer food hall (locals seafood for oysters and Burial for beer). Going to Jose and Sons this am for what is supposedly one of Raleigh’s best bloody Mary’s.

Been a fun, but tiring weekend. Will need to detox.

This is hardly a new observation, but going to the grocery store hungry is always a bad idea. I always add 4-7 impulse purchases on at the very end. None of them are economical.

On the other hand, I do now have a key lime pie and some Texas toast garlic bread to enjoy.

Key lime pie or cheesecake always make their way into my cart when I shop hungry and wander through the bakery department.

Today is Pie Day. It would have been a crime to not buy that key lime pie.

Discovered my local Harris Teeter does build your own 6-pack for $11. The beers available for this are all $10-12 per 6-pack and every interesting seasonal beer at that price is available. I’m pretty happy about this. I needed some in preparation for UCF.

Total Wine also does this but there’s no set price. You’re just buying stuff by the bottle/can and it ends up being like $20 for a decent 6-pack.

I spent around $30 on a six pack at Black Dog the other night but got a few high end options. They have a great selection.

Binny's (the Midwest version of Total Wine) did the mix-and-match and it was $11. And they had great high end options. I miss Binny's.

In-N-Out is just okay. I don't get the hype. The fries kind of sucked. The burger was pretty good, but there aren't that many choices. They only have three flavors of milkshake.

Maybe I'm just spoiled by Bojangles' and Cook Out.
I've never had N in Out but I'm really not that big on Cookout. 5 guys is my favorite burger place.

i had a reeces pieces and oreo shaaake at cookout very good would have it again. 8.7/10

I get the barbecue plate at Cook Out. Never had a burger. And of course you've got to get a shake. My favorite is the Oreo Mint.

I don't remember making this post but thanks for the likes @rome8180 and @physicsfactor

It is true that I had that shake and it was very good.

I want a shake right now but all the places around me are bullshit. Damn West Coast.
