Yeah, not good.

The shooting and decision making has been poor in 2018, but he is helping the team in other areas (playmaking, steals, etc.). Obviously in order for Duke to 'click' he needs to get to the line and competently knock down those outside looks. I think the shooting will come...hopefully soon.

He has been a warrior playing through so many injuries the last 2 years, it would suck to see his college career end with a whimper.

There doesn't appear to be any precedent for a 4-year Duke player to suddenly stop getting FTAs as a senior. Kyle Singler's FTA/40 dropped from 5.8 to 4.8 in his last year. That's it--anyone else you can think of shot more FTs as a senior than in any prior season. For Grayson, the dropoff is from 7.7 FTA/40 to 6.3 to 3.8.

Assuming Allen can play some point guard, this fixes the big TIERS issue if Tyus Jones is one and done or doesn't come to Duke at all (Allen can probably be an adequate 5-10-minute backup point guard as a freshman/sophomore, and Duke can get a one and done type to start after Cook, with Allen possibly developing into a starter as a junior/senior).

He became a spot-up shooter who can't shoot. He's also probably afraid that if he drives he'll get punched in the face but somehow get blamed for it.

Junior Paulus shot 42% from 3. Sadly, Allen is 10 for 40 (25%) in 2018. We can only hope he approaches the awesomeness that was junior Paulus.

for you stats guys - is he playing well enough to still be a starter? Without looking, I would say no. There are games where he does little things, but the team needs more than that. I know he is better than AOC if he ever wakes up, but wouldn't it be worth experimenting to see if 6th man brings a spark to his game? What do him and coaches talk about when reviewing tape? You know he is extremely frustrated with himself. Doesn't help that he's a bit of a head case and is prob hurting himself out there.
