Mets have now lost 6 of 7 and been shut out 2 straight games (3-0, 1-0).

It's pathetic of me to hate athletes just based on performance rather than any criminal/racist activity, but I am very happy to see Prince Fielder fail. What a fat POS.

Tigers are rolling, should get Anibal Sanchez back soon, Cabrera is heating up a little bit from his terrible .800 OPS start to this season. They really need Jose Iglesias for the playoffs.

There are 3 players on pace for 30-30:

Brian Dozier, Jonathan Villar, and Charlie Blackmon.

Trout may be on pace now but I haven't checked.

I've never heard of the first three.

Not many had, really.

6-4 for Trout so far. He'll have to pick up the pace soon.

Villar stole 35+ last year and Dozier was an average hitter. Blackmon came out of nowhere.

Unfortunately I'm still conditioned from the steroid era to pay no attention to 30-HR seasons or any amount of stolen bases.

The number of guys that hit over 30 homeruns was like 10 last year

Barry Bonds was more fun to watch than any of these nubs. 'Roids were the best thing to ever happen to baseball.

Probably.

I always said I wish they would have let Doc, Straw and the others continue on the coke in the mid 80s. The Mets would have had a run on championships.

Darvish was perfect through 6 against Boston until a rookie 2B screwed him. Home team guy scored it an error, so no-no still in play.

The Nationals cost themselves any shot at a World Championship by following some unproven innings regimen to protect arms. Strasbug gets TJ the next year.
The Mets coddle Harvey. TJ surgery.
Fernandez. Threw less than 180 innings last year and shut down. Only reached 100 pitches in 11 of 36 starts. Done.

These teams need to let these guys loose. It's not innings or pitches. It's something else.

Nolan Ryan claims these guys don't pitch enough so they don't have the arm strength. My guess is there are some serious mechanics issues in modern baseball pitching coaching.

This is one thing where I think the eye test is the best way to go. Someone on Fangraphs made this point and I like it. You can generally just tell when a guy throws violently rather than smoothly. Exceptions like Prior happen but guys like Verlander and Lee are really smooth whereas when you get the inverted W motion (or an M, I guess) like Strasburg and Scherzer, it's scary.

Scherzer is probably going to blow his elbow out at some point and the Tigers know it. They pay everyone else obscene money but don't get an extension done with him? Their record of cutting bait with players they know better than anyone else has been good recently, with Fielder and Fister being complete shit so far.
