Music

Hooked on Mumford & Sons.

LOL at the thanksgiving song, just horrible. Not catchy, just pure awfulness.

I was on a Mumford & Sons kick last month.

Listening to Of Monsters and Men right now.

Bought a new toy.

My bandmate has always had all the recording shit. I'm always running around with these little melodies in my head (which is probably a sign of madness, but whatev) so I decided to get a 2 channel analog/USB input that records .wav files straight from my instruments to my computer.

The recording software it came with was really fucking intense and complicate, so on a recommendation I downloaded Audacity, which is a free open source recording software program. So simple, even a moron like me can use it.

Now I'm going to email Rome all my melodies so he can write lyrics for them...

ETA, I'd like the lyrics to be "Cath" depression level, if that's ok.

bfactor, if you want to see a badass live performance, look no further than this performance by Focus of their hit "Hocus Pocus" back in '73. Freaking incredible.

Bought the Lumineers album and Macklemore's "Heist"

Both are pretty good but I can't get over how awesome Macklemore's "My Oh My" is:

Got the Of Monsters and Men album and the Black Keys new album courtesy of Lhys, both are really excellent

Does anyone know a song that builds and culminates and features an orchestra mixed with heavy bass? Im looking for something like that to edit to.

Not sure if this is what you want, but maybe:

Well, it was No Leaf Clover by Metallica. Also, anything on S&M was recorded with a full symphony.

Hi Chib - I though Ashes & Fire was pretty decent. What do you think? More partial to the older stuff?

Joanna Newsom continues to be my favorite active musician. A lot of people find her voice grating, but to me everything about her music is heads above any one else out there.

Though I tend to prefer the longer, more epic and orchestral stuff (everything on Ys), "On a Good Day" is my current obsession. Heartbreaking.
