"guys they aren't going to trade the beard. OKC isn't like the other teams. This core of young go getters just want to win a trophy together and they don't care about the money, and neither do the OKC uberstaff"

Jeremy Lin just went from expectation of 6 apg to 9 apg. Was going to be the starting point guard in the all star game anyway. Now might actually deserve it.

Harden turned down 13 million per year for 4.

But of course OKC was going to offer them max and use the remaining 6 million to fill out the super squad, right? lol

Next: Kevin Durant to Detroit Pistons for Greg Monroe, Andre Drummond, next 10 first round picks. Rip the team apart.

No doubt the destination city that is Oklahoma's capitol will be able to attract loads of top tier free agents, who are just dying to play along two guys who will take 25+ shots a game each while averaging less than 10 combined assists.

Any chance of James McBoberts coming to this board has left with Mr. T teaming up with a Christian Asian guy to form the most watched backcourt globally in NBA history.

I declare myself the winner of the Thunder debate for all of perpetuity.

In other news, I first thought this was a crap deal (two 2013 1st rounders, Lamb, Martin for Harden, Lazar Hayward, Cole Aldrich, Daequan Cook).

However, with reports that Harden will sign the extension, I am on board. Basically, there are 5-7 true stars in this league and then a second tier. Harden is second tier but just finished his 3rd season. Rockets haven't had a star since Yao and McGrady and haven't been able to lure a free agent. That leaves two strategies (1) bomb and hope to get lucky through the draft (low chance of success) or (2) overpay young talents that compliment each other and just do everything you can to develop the young talents with potential.

Houston went with option (2).

Lin
Asik
Harden

All flawed young talents that are overpaid to various degrees. However, all will finally get opportunities to take on more responsibility.... more room to spread their wings.

It was time to roll the dice. Done.

I hope so, but we need more Gosling to smoke him out.

Isn't it amazing when stars take less money to play together? I mean just look at that OKC trio; they embody everything great about the game. They even wear backpacks and funny looking glasses. Some things are just more wholesome than money, unlike those monsters in Miami.

Asik is like opposite Ryan Kelly. Like the toughest, most badass white man in the world. It is debatable whether you would prefer getting in a fistfight with Omer Asik or Wladimir Klitschko.

What's 2 million extra a year matter for a member of the superfriends? You can't put a price on the laughs shared together during sleepovers telling each other stories in their sleeping bags holding flashlights.

"they aren't choosing between Ibaka and harden, they just happen to lockdown Ibaka first"

If Omer Asik clenched his fist in their faces, Ryan Kelly and Austin Nichols would start eating each other out. #yeptheyreaditdukeforum

Too bad for OKC about the timing of all this. 2013 is just going to be an awful shit draft. Whereas Toronto's first rounder in 2014 might be enough to net you a Julius Randle or Harrison twin, the 2013 equivalent would be Alex Len or CJ McCollum.

Lin + Harden = my favorite trick or treat backcourt in the NBA.

Lin/Machado or Fortson
Harden/Delfino
Parsons/ Terrence Jones
Patrick Patterson/ Royce white
Asik/ Montiejunas

If nothing else, I'm intrigued

Asik is just a rebounding machine. If they could get a big guy that can score semi-consistently down there to pair up with him, then that's a solid as hell front court.

This would be blasphemy and would get a GM banned from the league, but wouldn't it make sense for OKC to tank the 2013-2014 season? The odds of them getting past both the Lakers AND the Heat in one of those two years are probably less than 20%. But, if they tank that last year and get an Andrew Wiggins or Jabari Parker, that opens the door for them to dominate the next few years after LeBron has gone back to Cleveland and Kobe/nash have retired.

That doesn't take into account Kyrie Irving pairing up with Dwight Howard in LA, however. But that will never happen because he's a super guy who just loves the game for the game, kinda like those 'lil inseparable rascals in Oklahoma city who finish each others sentences.

Smart GM would report that Durant and 'Brook had devastating ACL injuries playing hopscotch together right before next season started.
