Lab-beagle mixes are so awesome. We got this goofball three years ago:

Here's my cat. We got him from central campus where he whored his way from student to student until my wife took him in. As you can tell, he has a much more lavish and indulgent lifestyle now than his time on the streets of Durham.

This cat has gone through like 3 bouts of cancers (different types), a raccoon attack, pseudomonas (at the same time as cancer surgery), bladder infections, and the typical stray cat issues (e.g. kitty aids).

He can eat whatever he damn well wants. Just kidding, he's been on a diet ever since we got him. He's likely got a lot of Maine Coon in him, so an 18 lbs male is not unusual. Shortly after that second photo, I rested a beer under his right arm. I should have posted that one instead.

One of my cat killed a rat last night. Then he sat on my front door mat and ate half of it. Then he decided he really didn't care for it, and he yakked up the part he ate on the mat. Then I went to take one of the dogs out and stepped in regurgitated rat entrails while wearing only socks. I don't love my cats right now.

Every time I see the thread title, I think of this song, which I fuckin' love.

Re: Randomopolis

One of our cats was acting real sick this morning, so my wife took her in. Just got off the phone with the vet, and she's gone. :(

We'll miss you, kid.

Re: Randomopolis

My cat and I send our sincerest condolences (my cat is looking at the picture of your cat).

Thanks for moving to the right thread.

This one was one of our "California cats," i.e. one of the three who made the cross-country trek down I-40 back here after we got married out there. On that road trip (3 cats, 2 suitcases, china from wedding gifts, 1 cat box, 1 litter box, and the 2 of us..........in a Beetle. Pretty epic), this one and another one kept getting in some weird and cute poses. Here's one:

White one had to be put to sleep back in '10, so now they're reunited.

I'm sorry to hear that. It's especially rough when it happens unexpectedly.

(My cats, on the other hand, say they really don't give a fuck. They're suck little assholes.)

Reagan got spayed today. She is still jacked up on hydromorphone.

I had to take my golden to the emergency vet tonight. She had started to bleed from her incision and apparently has internal bleeding going on due to a ruptured suture on one of her arteries. Not sure what is going to happen. Waiting by the phone.

Aw, shit, that sucks. Hope they got her fixed up and everything is ok.

Damn, I was just coming here to check on this. Hope everything turns out ok Thain, praying for ya Buddy!

The surgery went well. Apparently the clot and suture came lose where her right ovary used to be. The vet said this is very rare but has happened before. We don't know what caused it but they ended up having to suction out 900 Ml's of blood from her stomach. Her blood count was low but luckily we don't need to do a blood transfusion. The emergency vet religated the point of bleeding and then religated everything else just to be safe. After a ton of fluids she is stable. I picked her up this morning and took her to her normal vet where she will stay and be monitored throughout the day. If all things go well I should be able to bring her back home this afternoon. I have always been extra sensitive when it comes to animals. Last night was exhausting and emotionally draining. I just couldn't imagine losing her this early in her life.

(Did you go to the emergency vet off Oleander? I'm pretty sure I paid for at least half that building.)

Glad they could get her squared away. It's really hard when something like this happens out of the blue. I had a wonderful dog that I thought the world of, who dropped dead one night at the age of 4 years. That hit me harder than any loss in my life, human or otherwise.
