Yeah ddb, I went to the emergency vet off Oleander. That became a very expensive trip but well worth it as long as she makes it. I just got an update from the vet and it sounds like she is eating, going to the bathroom, barking and what not. She has some swelling going on under her eyes so they have stopped the injectable antibiotics thinking that is the problem and gave her some benadryl.

I just brought her home. She is in good spirits, eating and wanting treats big time. Just keeping my fingers crossed that everything stays stable. It is no surprise that she is tired as hell.

Good to hear, Thain.

My avatar says for you to GFY for removing a "totally bangable bitch from the market."

He's not a big-picture kind of guy.

My beagle mix pup, Archer, is staying the rest of the weekend doped up at the emergency vet. There is something wrong with his neck. He screams in horrible pain every time he moves. It just started happening out of nowhere earlier this afternoon. Nothing seen on XRay or blood tests. They think it might be a disc issue. I've never heard a dog scream that much over seemingly nothing. It was awful. Hopefully it's something we can fix.

A similar thing happened to my Malti-Pit, Boozer. It was so painful for him he couldn't even move more than a few feet. I was worried it was his neck, but it ended up being an inflammation of his shoulder. They gave him some muscle relaxers and he was better within a week.

I hope it all ends up ok physics. There isn't a more helpless feeling than when your dog is in pain and you don't know what it is or how to fix it.

Praise the Lord, Archer is going to be OK! He does have a bulging disc in his neck, but it should "get better" in time. He's such a little guy, and I suspect he probably got hurt wrestling with my 3-year old black lab, Zoubek. $850 later, Archer is at home and on crate rest for at least 3-4 weeks. I don't know how he's going to make it. He's only a year old, and he's rowdy as hell.

Btw, I don't know how those of you with kids can deal with a situation like that. When we didn't know what was going on, we were crazy worried. And while my wife was getting emotional, I was getting sick just thinking about if I had to make "the decision." Freaking horrible feeling.

Anyway, thanks for any thoughts and/or prayers for the little dude.

Ah yes, the disc issues........our dog has that as well. I just have to make sure he stops jumping over baby gates, and he's fine.

As for kids, we've told them the cats we had to put to sleep had owies when they were being checked, and when it was time, we told them they were going to heaven. Funny thing with the first one was that it happened shortly after my mom had passed away, and the first thing my then-3-yr old said was "So Latte will be with Mah-Mah in heaven?"

That works.

My Bichon had a butt explosion this morning in our dining room. I was in the kitchen, heard an odd noise, walked in and found shit everywhere. It was on the rug, the floor and even hanging from the chairs at the dining table. Pretty fucking gross.

Since I'm reading this on the toilet, that's pretty fucking funny Thain. Sorry about the cleanup.
