Politics

POTUS is managing his administration as if it were a reality show. This was completely unforeseen.

Who cares about that, because where was Obama when it came to protecting American values in outer space? Probably out golfing or some shit.

I think people join the White House staff just to land a book deal, with a possibility of also getting a spot on a cable news network. Maybe Trump even mentions this as an incentive when he makes the offer.

This national high school walkout is a nice idea. Not that it will change anything, but the students get to skip school, and then the school can suspend all of them for a day or two, and then the teachers can get more days off from school as well. Very well done.

I hate that Donald Trump will be the president who floated the idea of a space force.

It is actually an utterly brilliant and necessary idea. Space seems to be America's next manifest destiny- we are the only country capable of doing such by ourselves. We won both world wars, planted the stars and stripes on the moon, and built the Empire State Building and Twin Towers. Surely we can colonize Mars and other more distant planets. Not to mention the two best entrepreneurs in the world are Americans with their eyes set on space (Bezos and Musk)

In 50 years or so, there will be at least 51 states.

That 51st state shall be named Mars.

This assumes Puerto Rico doesn't take that mantle. Or the moon. There will probably be a war fought over who gets the space mining rights/etc.. America will win.

Much like how the global shipping lanes are controlled by the US Navy, the US Space Force will control the intergalactic ones.

Would you call a South African-born, canadian american, pure white-bred american??

The US relies on Russia to get its astronauts to space at the moment.

Why would I do that? What does this even mean? Why are you saying something like "white-bred", as if I have said something similar? Have I ever said anything racist on this board? Musk is a naturalized U.S. citizen, which means he is just as American as anyone else. And I am on record of stating I want 1 billion people living in this country (which means a vast increase in immigration), so I am thoroughly confused by your post.

I get you think you are so smart and have it all figured it out and think US-first politics are the domain of provincial dullards, but you are definitely wrong on the latter. I am an atheist and hedonist who loves NYC, pornography, skyscrapers, capitalism, and the creative arts. How I get portrayed as some sort of Republican sychophant on this board is baffling to me.

I think people are put off by the jingoism, Axe. Half of America would prioritize teaching creationism in school over the long-term viability of humans via space exploration.

I have never said Americans are smarter than people from other countries. Anyone who argues for Creationism isn't an ally of mine. One of America's great strengths is its attractiveness to the rest of the world. Brain Drain. A good example would be the "Golden Age" in Hollywood: I could name 10-15 STARS of STARS who weren't born here but were absolutely integral in making America the great cultural behemoth it is. Manhattan project was another huge one. Einstein? German. Fermi? Italian. Oppenheimer? Father was a German Jew. Enormous immigrant impact on Wall Street. Really too big to list. Hell, Alexander Hamilton himself was born on the island of Nevis.

So, I am definitely not elevating the people of the US over people from other places. The U.S. "system" has simply worked together with people from around the world to create this place. It took both, and it's absolutely an equation: we wouldn't be where we are without two enormous coasts, all our fertile rivers and farmland, etc.

You may make some reasonable points on some things, but you negate all of it with the ridiculous way you present it. That is what everyone is trying to tell you.

Actually, we already have a Space Force, and have had one for decades.

Most nations, including the US, have tried to avoid the "militarization" of space, but we've been tactically aware of how important being able to shoot down satellites since forever, and have the forward capabilities. The Air Force has a secret program that is very similar to the shuttle program NASA had.

Ironically, Russia calls its space force, The Space Forces.

What do you suggest I change about my presentation? Feel free to PM me if you don't want to veer this thread too sideways.

Very cool. I've always figured the Air Force has some pretty cool shit that could explain some UFO sightings.
