So, ICD-10 starts in the US. It's the billing coding system and replaces ICD-9. It is much more specific. Europe has been using it for 20+ years and for some reason, the US is just catching up (I think Europe is going to ICD-11 soon). Physicians hate it because it will make our documentation much more difficult/time consuming and reimbursement is contingent on doing this correctly. Here is how specific it can get:
