Player Tyus Jones

I just assume we can land a decent to really good PG any year we want to. Don't have to do a lot of planning there. If we miss out on Tyus, we'll still have a senior Cook and we'll just land someone else in 2015.

Jones wears scarves and glasses. He's basically Harry Potter. Obvi a "Duke kid".

The thing I've come to like about Jones is how efficient he is. He's a couple percentage points away from a 50-40-90 line while going for 25 and 7 assists. No wasted possessions from him. Wish I knew his FT rate and his other kenpom numbers though.

Keeley article on a Jones vs Pinson summer matchup:
http://www.newsobserver.com/2013/07/12/ ... ommit.html

Pinson expects to make an immediate impact on the wing for UNC in 2014.

“That’s the reason I committed there, knowing that I could come in and play early and get some good minutes,” he said. “Valuable minutes. Toward the end of the game, I can be in the game because I’m going to be one of the wings.”

UNC is where non-elite wings go for immediate PT, like what Duke should be for non-elite centers, but isn't for some reason. I wonder if any 2-star centers would even jump at the chance to go to Duke.

Probably not, because people around them would realize that K would just play an undersized 4 at the "5" before he would even consider playing a non top 100 center.

Tyus is on ESPNU tonight at 7. Thats the word on the street.

I get all of my #Duke info from @Ball_Durham.

As all true Duke fans do. Otherwise, you're just a bandwagon fan. Its science.

Was really really impressed with Tyus Jones tonight. Made a few questionable passes, but his vision, accuracy, and overall understanding of the game are insane. Was tough to tell how good a shooter he is because he only took one three-pointer. However he shoots 90% from the line, which bodes well. He finished well in transition.

Aside from youtube videos, I have not seen TJ play at all. The IQ/court vision comments seem to be the most common remarks on his game. And he is a northern dude, so you have to dig that. Sure would be great to see him come to Duke.

I watched all of the game last night and came away with a similar opinion to rome. He doesn't wow you with great athleticism or pure shooting, he just seems to be in the right place, making the right play, all the time. Defense was AAU defense so literally nothing to say on that point. His passing was great but his teammates were horrible finishers. He maneuvers defenses where he wants them to go so that he can make a specific pass. Actually quite fascinating to watch but I'm curious if it will work as well in college. He was incredibly poised driving to the rim and finished very well.

After watching him, I think he's a two-three year guy now.
