UNC Basketball 2015-16 Discussion Thread

Reading the latest on the academic/athletic fraud scandal and it seems like UNC is really, really, really fucked.

What's changed? Seems like a postseason ban for a year could happen but I've gotten the sense that they'll get out of this relatively unscathed given the allegations.
 
Quick synopsis: UNC was telling the NCAA one thing and SACS (the institution responsible for accreditation) another thing. Essentially, they were being honest with SACS and lying to the NCAA. When the SACS info went public, the NCAA was able to use it to pursue further allegations. The SACS info shows that fake classes went back to 1989...not 2002. Additionally there has apparently been a new level-1 infraction added to case, a level-2 charge added to the case, and three of the level-1 infractions have been updated and expanded to include new information.

On top of the fact that the NCAA doesn't appreciate being lied to, they now have all kinds of info at their disposal that they didn't before. And it's all as a result of UNC self-reporting new violations in an attempt to buy time in order to win the 2016 title. Lol
 
I got most of that from a summary posted by a TDD guy on Facebook. He did provide a few little charts, etc. Here's a table that UNC created themselves:

He's posted multiple correspondences between UNC and SACS in the past, so I am inclined to believe he's following this closely. I don't have the patience to sift through that thread on TDD, but it seems like he must have (or on the State board or whatever).

Also, "People are claiming to have already seen the ANOA and if what they say is true UNC punishment will be second only to SMU and their death penalty."
 
Basically uNC has a "Lack of Institutional Control" allegation against the women basketball team. Unbelievable.

Maybe naming him a captain is like calling Dexter Strickland a "defensive specialist."
