What’s your prediction, if this game is played?

You may not have liked it, but Virginia was a top-20 team in efficiency margin in February, and a borderline top-40 team since New Year's. So that's a win over a tournament caliber team on the road. More to the point, Virginia is the most physical team in the league and will always wear you down mentally regardless of their talent. That's what most of the NCAA field will be like. So it is pretty encouraging that Duke won especially without playing anything close to a perfect game.

Knowing that Virginia has been better in the last month or so, and selecting January 20 as a random date starting point, they have been the 33rd best team in the country in that one month ish span, making tonight's road win a bit more impressive than the season-long metrics would suggest.

Just watched a 10 min highlight video. Looks like this would have been an easy win if not for a fluke shooting performance by their tiny guy. Also, how hilarious is it for a P5 guard to be so small and weak that he can’t get a half court shot to the rim?

Missed this post, which way more eloquently made the point I did down thread.

Shot under 40% on the season. Was somehow Boston-era Isaiah Thomas against us.

We always win in Charlottesville by going insane from three against the packline. Tyus/Quinn at the end in 2015, Tatum in the second half in 2017, RJ/Cam in 2019. I'm thinking we get a big AJ game on Wednesday.
Can't gloat about this prediction too much since he was just 4-11, but AJ's takeover down the stretch reinforces my theory about winning @ UVA. Give the ball to your most talented perimeter scorers and let it rip. Unfortunately, K is under the impression that our most talented perimeter scorer is Paolo.

Banchero: 32% usage, 69 ORtg, -7.1 BPM, didn’t even rebound well, which had been his consistent saving grace. One of the very worst performances of Duke’s OAD era.

Roach: Tremendous. Duke needed every bit of his 2x overperformance in true shooting and offensive efficiency to win this game. A mere great performance from Roach wouldn’t have been enough. He had to be brilliant for Duke to overcome Banchero.

Besides Roach, Mark had the best net rating on Duke.

Kihei Clark’s numbers tell the story of one of the best individual performances against Duke ever. .787 TS, 51% assist, 28.7 BPM.
