Okafor's effect on the team is neutral at best and devastatingly negative at worst.

We have to play him in order to keep the recruiting train going, but K should gradually start cutting back his minutes under the guise of resting him to keep the ankle healthy.

His defense looked better tonight. To be fair, his task was guarding a true post player. He seems to do a little bit better in those situations. And Syracuse's guards weren't capable of drawing him out with pick and rolls and then getting into the lane.

Yeah. I think when the brackets come out, the first and most important question to ask regarding potential matchups is "how many of their guards penetrate and how frequently do they do it?"

Unless K employs a strategy specifically designed to combat it, we'll lose to that team. I'm sure of it.

It's the combination of penetrators and shooters that's the issue. If they can't shoot, I'd say K is pretty likely to go zone-heavy, a la Louisville / Clemson. If they have multiple three-point threats, I don't think K will be comfortable zoning much. seaso

I posted in the other thread about his defensive adjustment for this last game. He clogged the paint more by having Tyus drop off of Joseph and help in the paint as soon as Joseph left the ball. However, Joseph is a total non-factor offensively. So I wouldn't expect to see this against a PG who can shoot.
