Player Marques Bolden

Holy shit, his hands. He went some sort of go-go-gadget arms with Velcro hands twice today to softly catch some shit passes.

Honestly - just recovering from that 17-footer he nailed.

The feeling is like 4 whiskey shots in a row.

What a remarkable turnaround. He’s gone from easily the most shit on player in Duke-Forum history to being a valued asset, not because the bar is set low but because he’s legitimately doing good basketball things.

Where’s Pants at?!?

He only clocked 8 minutes against Syracuse, mainly because he had his face smashed which resulted in a bloody mouth and nose. He had 2 points on his only shot, had three rebounds, a steal and a block. He did pick up a couple fouls but with solid rim protection. When he gets his chance to gain some minutes it appears like his knee brace is more of a hindrance than a help. He's just a huge presence in the paint.

Was the hit to his face the reason he only played 8 minutes? He only had 3 fouls at most by my count. He deserves to play more. His rebounding and blocking (or presence to at least alter shots down low) has been very welcome.

He played through a broken nose earlier in the year. Marqueem Bolajuwon doesn't give a fuck.

Marques plays an integral role on consecutive natty champer teams and goes in 1st round with RJ, Cam, Zion, and Tre.

Will go down as one of the most beloved Dukies ever.

He got screwed on one of the foul calls and damn near had 3 blocks in his limited time. It is weird seeing him having any athleticism at all with that huge brace.

After a few years of watching him play basketball, walk to and from class, sleep, etc., I feel like he's someone who could benefit a lot from seeing a Feldenkreis-type movement and balance coach.

He's got this massive frame, but gets knocked off balance pretty easily for his size. Not sure if it's ankles, core, or what, but I think that's why he sometimes doesn't finish as strongly as it seems like he should or gets knocked back when defending a postup.

It's kind of the opposite of Bagley, who, despite being much smaller and probably less impressive in the weight room, has no problem dunking through everybody and jumping without needing to gather at all. Those little muscles seem underappreciated in sports training.

But maybe it's his weak ankles that allow him to be so quick-footed on defense?

My biggest issue with him is how his 1st jump in two seconds slower than Bagley's 2nd. He's an ineffective post scorer simply because he needs to hunch and gather before going up with his move.

Yeah, that's a classic balance/core strength symptom. It's like he has to be perfectly centered and still to safely get some upward thrust, rather than relying on his supporting muscles and core to deal with any contact or lateral momentum.
