Celtic move on to the round of 16 by beating Spartak 2-1 and by Barca drawing with Benfica. Thank Thornton Barca's B team is really really good.

Fantastic draw all around.

Munich is going to thrash us. Hopefully, we'll sign Llorente and another defender in the mean time.

I wanted Malaga badly. Some of our players wanted Juve though. #welp it was fun while it lasted. Thanks for the millions. Oh, and the memories.

I take from this that Wenger hasnt been spending because of the Emirates but will now that its been paid off. Also, he intimates that he'll retire in 2014 when his contract is up.

Im mad we didnt sign MVila at the cut rate of 8 mil. QPR basically signed my two favorite options.

15:18 GMT: Quotes from Arsene Wenger from an interview with Al Jazeera Sport recorded before the Man City defeat: "My plan is to keep all of the players we have and then to add maybe, if possible, two new players to the squad. We WILL spend big [again], because we had restricted finances because we had the stadium built and had to pay that back."

"You look at any club who has done that, and they have gone down [in performance]. We stayed at the top level, yes without winning the Premier League, but we were always at the top level. Now we have come out in a much stronger position financial again, so we can spend. But our way is a bit like Barcelona as well, to produce the core of the team from inside and add from outside the players who really give a plus."

The Frenchman accepts his time will soon "be up": "It is [time up], because I am 63 years old and will not work at 100. That, though, is not the most important, what is important is that when you are somewhere, you give your best. How long will I stay? I have a contract until 2014, and I always respected my contracts."

Clint Dempsey proving worth his weight in gold. What a finish!

No treble for Celtic. In the process of losing 3-1 to St. Mirren in the League Cup semifinal. I'm so sick of losing to these crappy domestic teams in the "less important" cups.

Part 8,351 of the racism in soccer series, starring Jozy Altidore yesterday.

I think a large portion of America is pretty terrible when it comes to tolerance, but this shit would never happen to this extent in America right now. If you were at some minor league/college soccer game in Mississippi, even with how silently racist most of the crowd around you would be, you would have your life ruined via social media if anyone heard you chanting racist taunts at black players. iPhone videos immediately captured and uploaded to YouTube, almost immediately popularized on Twitter/Reddit, comments within minutes outing you and posting your Facebook page URL and personal contact info.

It's deadline day! Any big moves for you gunners now that the Beckham move fell apart?

Heard were going after a LB but doubt anything happens

Signed Malaga LB Nacho Monreal to a 4 year deal. Apparently, he will play today. Wish Shea was playing for Stoke today.

Heading into tomorrow's match in Honduras, where all members of USA will probably be executed on the field, we have the AC Milan VP publicly calling his newly acquired black piece of meat "the family's little n-----."

AC Milan vice president Paolo Berlusconi used a racist slur to describe newly acquired forward Mario Balotelli during public remarks at a political forum in Italy.

Berlusconi, younger brother of the club president Silvio, described Balotelli, who is black, as "n------- di famiglia," an Italian slur meaning "the family's little n-----."

Ghana and Burkina Faso are in extra time in the African Cup of Nations semifinal. This one is very likely to go to penalties.

Also, at 4 ET (1:30 AM Ben time), the US men begin their qualification for the World Cup, by taking on Honduras. It will be shown on BeIN Sport.

The ref just robbed Burkina Faso of a goal in the final minute of the first half of extra time. This is disgusting.
