Player Tyler Thornton

Was that early in the game? I found that weird because Thornton had half his body out of bounds and yet they called a jump ball.

No biggie. Just a 51/57/90 shooting line with a 138 offensive rating and a 3-to-1 assist-to-turnover ratio.

Without Thornton's effort and threes Duke would have lost by 10 or more. He was Maui times 3 tonight.

I know he's not that nasty slashing point guard every team "needs" to be great. He's not Hurley, Avery, Duhon, Scheyer. There are a lot of teams on this level and at the NBA level who win big without two guards who are both unstoppable getting into the lane, though. Since Cook has lost his shot and has never been good defensively, and Sulaimon has the skills to play point, why not go with Thornton and Sulaimon together for most of the game? Is the most efficient low usage player in the ACC going to hurt a Duke lineup with 4 great scorers around him? Do Sulaimon, Hood, Parker, Jefferson need Chris Paul at point guard to be a good offensive lineup? Maybe.

Most hated captain in Duke history besides Hairston.

Those shots were incredible - really silenced the room (if only for a moment)

According to my numbers, he is the only player since 2005 between 180-195 pounds who is hitting more than 50% of all open threes* that he had to hit.

Minimum of 29 attempts.

I need some stats on corner threes when the margin of the game is less than 6 points.

Apparently he started tonight (I missed first 8 min of game time due to power outage)

TT's challenging of the passing lanes was hella impressive. Earned a 'high-5' from K.

If Capel, Wojo or James leave the coaching staff for a HC job after this season, I think it is possible TT gets a coaching job (I guess it would be a graduate assistant) with the Devils. What do you guys think about this?

I don't know why, but I've always assumed that Thornton will become a GA (and eventually a coach) at Duke.

K is on record as saying that TT would be a coach one day. He clearly loves him. I see no reason he wouldn't take him on the staff, if there's an opening.

I'm excited about the Wojo-Paulus-Thornton coaching triumverate, only because it would make so many Duke fans irate.

People would be complaining about the Scheyer hire if it weren't for the 2010 championship.

Another soft, white guard on K's staff? How is that going to look to inner city recruits? But Scheyer gets a pass because he knows how to win the big games, and will undoubtedly pass that trait on to everyone he coaches.
