It's also possible that Austin is a difficult personality AND Seth and Dre were the problem.

I mean Dre is a dude who was literally "asked" to leave the team for a year. Also, locker room info straight up has K accusing Seth and Dre of being jealous of Austin. And also also, Chris Paul is a known prick who people don't like playing with. I am not saying none of the Austin stuff is true, but you have to weigh hearsay against hearsay.

Looks like you were wrong to rush to judgement, Childress.

It was Michael Eaves at ESPN who reported the story, Deadspin was just mooching off of his story to get hits.

Yes, Dre was asked to spend a year away from the team, but he was also invited back for his RS-Senior year, which he could have spent at 300+ other schools as a grad transfer. And he's been back for K Academy and/or basketball camp every year. You make it sound like he was a pariah rather than a kid with depression (which, admittedly, probably affected his mood in 2012).

Back to Seth for a sec, though -- Seriously, has anyone ever heard of Seth Curry having beef with, or even just not being friendly with, any other teammates?

Also, nothing about Wise's tweet contradicts Eaves's story. Eaves didn't say Paul had issue with Austin's playing time, just his attitude and a perceived double-standard Doc had.

Here's Zach Lowe also noting that team insiders complained that Austin carried himself " like an anointed superstar," although noting that this apparently got better in the last year or two: http://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/1975 ... ockets-nba

But, yeah, sounds like Paul's beef was more with Doc than with Austin.

CP3 is one of the 2 best point guards in the world, it is pretty lame if he was truly concerned about Doc giving preferential treatment to Austin. I really did not see any evidence of Doc doing that the last 3 years.

Austin's extremely high self-confidence may rub people the wrong way, but it is nothing he needs to apologize for. It is not really an uncommon trait in NBA players.

So he disliked Austin and thought he got preferential treatment but he was mad he didn't play more? Technically possible but sounds implausible.

Honestly, Tyus needs to be competitive with Jeff Teague in his 3rd year in the league. If not, he's just not going to cut it period.

While I am not saying it's wrong, what's your reasoning behind that statement? It can't be defense, since he played Boozer plenty.

Well, the easy answer is because he didn't play him. It's one thing to play Rubio in front of him, but Tyus had better advanced stats than Dunn and played less. The other answer is defense despite Thibs playing Boozer.

I think there is a little bit of a double standard WRT to defense between guards and bigs.

There are many ways Tyus could cut it as a career 2nd-string point guard that would still put him behind Teague. Teague is not a top-tier guard, but he's one of the most reliable second-tier guys. He seldom misses games, he shoots pretty well from the floor and the line, and he'll give you 2.5 assists for every turnover.

On the other hand, your point is spot-on in one respect: If you look at Teague's career, his first two years his numbers look a LOT like Tyus's. In fact, Tyus probably wins out. Teague's third year, he went from 5.2 and 2 to 12.6 and 5. It would be nice for Tyus to make a similar leap.

I think you're taking my words "competitive" and "cut it" too strongly.

Anyway, Tyus will have an opportunity. Not only is he the only other PG on the roster, which pretty much guarantees him some backup minutes, even under Thibodeau, who hates to play depth, but the guy ahead of him is good but not elite.

Just went to NBA.com to look up his stats for this game. Couldn't find him in the box score. I did, however, learn that there is a player on the Dallas Summer League team named Ding Ding.
