Player Jayson Tatum

I wonder why it takes him a half to get going?
 
No clue, but I'll take it. Although by his standards, he actually had a solid first half. I mean, he had 7 points, and had hit half his shots or so.
 
Tatum is the 2nd most accurate 3pt shooter on the team after the Virginia game. A high 30s 3pt shooter when getting open catch and shoot opportunities in Duke's offense, as we all expected.

A bunch of turnovers though

I actually like that he's slow in the first half. Hasn't been forcing it, allowing himself and the rest of the team to get in a better flow of the game.
 
My Love/Hate relationship with Tatum's game is moving towards Love after UVa game.
 
He didn't do much different besides make contested threes. One thing I continue to marvel at is his exceptional defensive rebounding from the 4 position.
 
His shitty mid-range fadeaway habit seems to have been addressed and fixed. I like this new and improved Tatum.
 
Still puzzled by his inability to get to the rim against overmatched defenders. I know it isn't wise to go careening into the packline, but he seems unable/unwilling to make a quick move to the hoop right after receiving the ball, giving his defender plenty of time to get squared and balanced.

If he can shoot 3s @ 40ish %, though, he is unstoppable. With his height and that lift on his jumper, he isn't guardable in college. I almost felt sorry for the UVA fans I was sitting with, had they not been bitching about the refs nonstop for the first 37 minutes of the game.

BTW, K almost threw hands with a fan at halftime. Some old, drunk rube was trying to get to the big donor bar and crashed into him as he was leaving the court through the tunnel. K was in his face for more than a minute. He was pissed.

I doubt it. I had a buddy who filmed a few seconds on his phone from across the court, I'll see if he will post it somewhere. The booster was sitting behind the basket we were shooting at in the first half, jumped off the bleachers and proceeded to push through the security escort and ran into K. K was a bit shocked and probably told the security guys to keep fans clear of him. The booster must have said something, because K took a few steps into the tunnel, turned around, came back and laid into him. Was sticking his finger right up in the guy's face and put on his best scrunched up 'rat face'. I knew we had the game won at that point.
