In addition to the 8pm curfew in New Jersey, I believe that all movie theaters, gyms and casino's are closed, and that restaurants/bars must close by 8pm.

My buddy just got out of a Goldman Sachs investor call.

Says 50% of Americans will contract the virus and the peak is over the next 8 weeks. Likely seasonal. 80% of people will just have early-stage illness. 5% will be critical-stage and heavily weighted towards the elderly.

There will be significant overlap between "Coronavirus deaths" and older people just dying sooner due to respiratory issues. Estimates the official mortality rate to be up to 2%.

US trending towards quarantine- UK the opposite. Quarantine will significantly damage economy but will greatly help healthcare system to deal with the case load.

Global economy will recover in 6 months. China has been heavily affected due to raw materials and supply chains.

S&P will see negative growth rate up to 20% on the year.

Stocks should fully recover in 2nd half. Most of the damage to markets is being driven by market psychology, not the virus itself.

Russia/KSA oil war is hampering us since we're large energy exporter now, and that damage is being conflated with Coronavirus.

Market was looking for a reason to reset after an 11-year bull run.

There is no systemic risk. Banks are well-capitalized and the government is doing a good job of stabilizing the markets.

From a market perspective, this is not 2008. This is September 11th.

my girlfriend as a RN in the ICU. Starting last night she's working three days in a row. I'm worried- they have one confirmed corona virus patient in quarantine.

The foreign minister of China is spreading rumors that the US is behind this outbreak.

They keep it up, and there won't be a unified China anymore (excl HK and Taiwan) That house of cards will come down faster than you can say "'Merica, Fuck Yeah!"

Peter Navarro is right on the money. Bring the supply chains home. This is the new Cold War.

There are significant fissures between the regions (Northern, Central, Southern/tropical, Coastal, Hong Kong, and Taiwan). They have gorged on dirt cheap credit for decades while stealing/reverse engineering our tech and taking advantage of Bretton Woods while manipulating the yuan. Some of this has been aided and/or done with the consent of the borderline treasonous political and business class that offshored our jobs (Apple should be ashamed). Those unique historical factors are the only way the Communist Party been able to consolidate power in Beijing and keep it for so long.

Those days are close to over. There will be a massive economic and social reckoning in The People's Republic eventually.

I'd say the US is an agitated country right now. Poking us in the eyes historically does not end well for anyone and would hasten that reckoning.

The presser by Trump was great. Very presidential. Amazing. He was a different guy today. (serious if you haven't seen it)

He also said the coverage of this has been fair.

I think he's probably spooked.

Trump sounded as close to Presidential as he possibly can today it sounds like and the Dow still dropped 3000 points. I wonder if he is going to autograph that one?

He's improved but still a mess. When he said he could be on lock down until July/August (which is highly unlikely in my opinion and Fauci corrected this is when the virus could completely dissipate) it just showed how little he grasps. Spooked the market more as he had to backpedal on a lot of stupid statements he made previously.

There is no bullying a virus, there's no fake news around deaths.

Duke (Vincent Price) just prohibited any meetings on campus, even 1 on 1. I still have 2 full clinic days scheduled this week, which is like 30 1 on 1 meetings.

West Virginia has been rejecting tests because "they don't have any cases." The stupidity of that circular logic boggles my mind.
