It was a medical disagreement that caused Kawhi to leave San Antonio. And their franchise still hasn't recovered. And that's a far better front office historically than the Pelicans have.

It’s in both the player and team’s interest that the public believe that Zion wants to play but the team doctors are holding him back. Obvious why that’s the case for Zion. As for the team, they don’t want to have to sell to a market that thinks Zion is Simmons 2.0, and it would be ridiculous to try to incorporate him into the lineup of the current team in the middle of a playoff run. And everyone hates doctors, so let them take the fall.
